Pregnant: stop acne breakouts!

Acne breakouts in early pregnancy

Help, the “4th class” is back in force! As in the worst periods of college (- when we were in love with Laurent P. who was not looking at us, and we engraved his name with hearts on our desk while sighing during math class … ), during pregnancy, under the influence of estrogen, very present in the fourth and fifth months, some women see acne pimples appear on the face and décolleté. They can also be located on the bust and back. Indeed, the peak of hormones disrupts the secretion of estrogen and progesterone. This changes the production of sebum and unbalances the epidermis.

People at risk of acne

Pregnancy acne is characterized by the appearance of inflammatory pimples like blackheads or red pimples. The most affected women are those who experienced strong outbreaks in adolescence (NOOOOOOOONNNNNN !!!!). But also those who have oily skin are likely to see pimples appear.

Acne: what lifestyle to adopt?

To fight against acne, above all we do not use Roacutane. Composed of the active molecule isotretinoin, it should especially not be taken before, at the beginning or during pregnancy. This is because isotretonoin is dangerous for the fetus. It promotes the appearance of congenital malformations, in particular of the nervous system, ears and cardiovascular system. After childbirth, we remain on our guard. The product is eliminated slowly, the risks are still present beyond the intake. It is forbidden to use it if you are breastfeeding.

The solution: change your daily hygiene. Make-up-removing milks, which are too rich, are eliminated and a foaming cleanser that rinses with water, suitable for young problem skin, is adopted. Then choose a moisturizer with a light texture. With an astringent and exfoliating effect, fruit acid creams are well suited for this skin type.

We prefer dermatological bread. Exfoliation is avoided which may attack the skin and create skin inflammation. Above all, we do not pierce the buttons. This may re-infect the wound and cause scarring to appear.
