We all know the ancient wisdom that everything may be a poison and medication just depending on the dosage. But there are few who who thought so about the usual clean drinking water. In excess it can be the cause of poisoning, even fatal.
Excessive intake of water, if it is so great and fast that the kidneys do not have time to adjust the balance of the elements, primarily sodium and potassium, leading to even greater changes in their concentrations in the intracellular and extracellular space, with subsequent swelling of the brain and lungs.
Here are a few examples of people “poisoned by water” to death:
- 44-year-old British citizen died after he drank about 10 liters of water for 8 hours. Man was trying to soothe a toothache by drinking lots of cold water. Died after two days of attempts of doctors to save him
- The woman drank 6.5 liters of water for a game console and died. Radio station staff members have thoughtlessly decided to hold a competition live, “who will drink more.” Even calls from some radio listeners with the warning that it is dangerous, leading not forced to think again. After a tragic accident, all personnel working in the broadcast, was dismissed, but the person, of course, can’t be returned…
- The woman drank 4L of water, carrying out the plan of her diet, and died. And this is all horrifying. The woman had fulfilled the plan of her diet, which was recommended quite a lot to drink and little to eat. And after drinking 4 liters of water for two hours, she felt ill, went to the bathroom, where he collapsed. The next day she died in hospital from swelling of the brain.
People familiar with history may remember that in the middle ages there was a torture drink.
So to all the people on diets and plans, you should know that there is no need to drink “through strength” (if it’s not doctor’s orders), and, moreover, a one-time consumption of large amounts of water can be dangerous for the health (and even life). Even if you did not drink all day, do not try to fill your daily dose at one time.
