More and more girls are abandoning photoshop and other ways to embellish their own figure. This is what plus-size models actually look like.
Model parameters are just a convention invented by someone. But how much effort has been put in to bring real figures closer to “ideal” standards. How many tears were shed by those who in no way fit into these very parameters! And what, forever dieting? Hide yourself in shapeless robes and suffer from the feeling of your own imperfection?
Increasingly, plus-size girls say: “Enough! We will be who we are. We love ourselves like that and accept our own beauty without contrived frames, as well as retouching and photoshop. ” Those who succeeded, not only themselves learned to feel happy, but are ready to lend a helping hand to others. And it helps, you know. Especially if there is a camera in this hand.
Plus-size photographer and model from St. Petersburg Lana Gurtovenko took up the camera when she realized how important it is to be free and natural in her real image, without artificial varnishing. And even some time ago I started the #NoPhotoshopProject project.
“I photograph plus size beauties without Photoshop and with little or no makeup. I think you, just like me, are fed up with these false pictures showing perfect, without stretch marks, without bumps, without hairs and generally just “without all living things” photos in magazines. I want sincerity, truth, truth. So let’s do it together! ” – Lana turned to potential participants in the project (at least size 50) on social networks. And 27 girls responded to her call.
Over the course of four months, many photographs were taken and 27 real, sincere personal stories were told. The project ended, but the pictures remained and continue to inspire those who, for various reasons, have not yet come to terms with their appearance and fell in love with themselves completely and completely.
Of course, Lana Gurtovenko’s project is not the only one. For example, a New Zealand lingerie brand has made such a photo shoot the basis of its advertising campaign, inviting ordinary girls of various sizes as models. At the same time, photographer Jun Kanedo completely abandoned any kind of retouching.
We’ve put together some inspiring photos from these two projects for you, and just some social media snapshots posted with the hashtag #bodypositive.
