Pain in the hair roots: causes
Hair root pain is not as rare as it seems. It usually occurs when you unravel your hair, brush your hair, or toss it from side to side. Usually ladies, grimacing, immediately forget about the experienced discomfort. And completely in vain! Doctors say that it is not uncommon for a pain in the hair roots to be a symptom of a serious illness.
First of all, it is worth remembering that the hair roots themselves cannot hurt. After all, they have no nerve endings. Therefore, if you feel discomfort on the head in the area of the hair roots, this is most likely a signal of something serious that is happening to the skin.
Causes of pain in the hair roots
There are many reasons why a woman may feel pain in the hair roots. The doctors even put them on a separate list.
It:
- too dry scalp
- poor circulation in the scalp
- improper hair care
- changing your hairstyle
- constant use of tight styling (e.g. ponytail, etc.)
- stress
Each of the reasons can lead to quite serious consequences, of which the pain in the roots is not the worst. However, if you regularly experience head discomfort, see your doctor.
Dry scalp is not only natural. Women often artificially dry their hair and skin using substandard hair care products. Even the most common shampoo, improperly selected, can greatly harm your hair. As a result, the skin dries up and a pulling sensation appears.
Violation of blood circulation in the scalp causes vascular disease and even the appearance of spasms. The refusal to wear hats in winter and vegetative dystonia (which almost every second has) can easily lead to circulatory disorders. The hat is designed to protect the bulbs from freezing, wind and other negative environmental influences.
Improper care can also lead to pain in the hair follicle area. So, for example, if you often use a low-quality comb that electrifies or tears your hair, you risk getting root pain. You also need to be very careful when buying hair care products. Read the labels of your shampoos, balms and hair masks carefully. It is important that they contain fewer chemical elements.
It should be borne in mind that excessive application of styling products also leads to unpleasant sensations in the root zone of hair growth.
If you have heavy hair and suddenly decide to change your hairstyle (and even if it is only about changing the direction of the parting), you may feel pain in the scalp. If you plan to radically update your image, you should be prepared for the appearance of discomfort and simply endure it.
Stress has a general detrimental effect on the entire body as a whole, including the hair and scalp.
The use of tight styling also often causes pain in the hair roots. After all, when you pull your hair, you do the same with the skin. Naturally, after opening the tail and relaxing the epidermis, you feel pain.
How to deal with scalp discomfort
If the reason is temporary, for example, you know for sure that the pain is associated with a change in hairstyle or your passion for tight styling, a regular massage will help. It is enough to gently massage your head with your fingers for 5 minutes so that the discomfort and pain go away.
Remember that massage can be done dry, it is not at all necessary to use any oils. The main thing is the intensity of the movements. Try to keep them gentle enough, but not weak. Various kneading, circular movements, etc. help you forget about discomfort almost instantly.
Do not use too abrupt movements. This will force the sebaceous glands to work too actively, as a result of which the hair will begin to get dirty more often, become greasy, etc.
If you are under constant stress, taking a sedative can help. It is best to choose herbal remedies. They are healthier, more natural, and work better. If the effect is not observed – the pain remains, and you are still nervous, consult a doctor. Perhaps there is a deeper reason, and you are developing some kind of serious neurological disease.
As for improper care, be sure to carefully re-read the labels on all kinds of products that you are going to choose for hair care. The best option would be to choose natural organic cosmetics. Also choose a comb wisely. Avoid scratching your scalp. Better stop at a wide massage brush.
Naturally, protect your head according to the season: in the summer – a scarf, a hat, a panama hat, a hat in winter, a snood, a scarf, etc.
Do tight styling no more than a couple of times a week, or even better once.
Remember that pulling is a very serious stress on your hair, which it can respond to with breakage, dullness, etc.
Add vitamins to your diet. They will boost your overall immunity and strengthen your hair. Thanks to vitamins, hair will look healthy and shiny. They will become much stronger to the touch.
Treat your hair with care and it will thank you.
