Women are the main protagonists of this oenological contest that highlights the great participation of women throughout the winemaking process.
The call for the 2016 edition of the International Competition Wine and Woman Awards, It is already reaching its last days before the celebration of its ninth edition on March 30 of this year, although registration closes on the 23rd, so there are only a few days left to participate.
This official contest is recognized and endorsed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (Magrama), and is an initiative of the Alamesa gastro oenological consulting company, which together with the Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers (AEPEV) and with The Open Wine Room are the main supporters and promoters of the contest.
Its main virtue and value for which the female public is the protagonist lies in its particular norm, where the woman must have participated actively in a percentage of at least 50% in tasks of responsibility, production, marketing or administration.

It is increasingly common to see women at the forefront of the action in the winemaking world and also the awards and competitions that take place in our country, such as the one that stands out The favorite wines of women of the Association of Women Friends of Wine (AMAVI) .
The organizers of the contest seek and pursue objectives clearly designed to show sustainable development in the oenological field, counting on the work of women as the main value of the activity, from the vine to the table.
Another clear objective of the contest is to disseminate the female content of many brands in terms of commercial action, tasting and even the management of many of the wineries that operate in our country or outside of it.
The categories on which the awards for each product will be decided will be divided into the following sections:
- Sparkling Wines
- White wines
- White without wood
- White with wood
- Pink wines
- Red wines
- Young and woodless
- With wood up to 12 months
- With wood more than 1 year
All wines made by world and national wineries with PDO, or PGI, that meet this requirement, are potential participants of the event that will distinguish the winners of the event, within each category, with the event’s own accreditations such as Medals. Big Diamond, Diamond Medals or Ruby Medals.
The diplomas and medals will be awarded to the finalists in a special appointment that will take place on April 15, 2016.
