Doctors have unveiled two more important symptoms that appear at the initial stage of the coronavirus disease.
We all have already learned by heart: the incubation period of COVID-19 is up to 14 days. This means that within two weeks you can be infected, but the disease will proceed without the well-known symptoms in the form of high fever, difficulty and painful breathing and coughing.
Now doctors have identified two more symptoms that need to be paid close attention – loss of smell and taste. They occur in about a third of patients.
This statement was published on the website of the British Otolaryngology Association.
The state of loss of smell and taste is called anosmia. Sometimes it occurs with viral diseases.
“In South Korea, where testing for coronavirus is more common, 30% of patients who tested positive had anosmia as a major symptom,” said Claire Hopkins, President of the British Rhinological Society.
Moreover, what is most frightening, such symptoms are more typical for young people, and not for the older generation.
Stars are also colliding with anosmia. For example, French basketball player Rudy Gaubert wrote on his social networks: “Loss of smell and taste is one of the symptoms, I have not felt anything for the last four days.”
Note that doctors recently reported other symptoms: loss of appetite and diarrhea.
