Until now, it was believed that acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is triggered by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, Chinese scientists conducted an extensive study, during which it turned out that a new virus appeared in the world that has nothing to do with HIV, but at the same time causes the development of AIDS.
“Thousands of patients diagnosed with AIDS show negative reactions to HIV,” said one of the doctors.
The virus is a mutation of the human immunodeficiency virus already known to doctors, but at the same time it is more aggressive when transmitted through saliva than during sexual intercourse.
A detailed study of the new virus began on Monday, January 11. When scientists will be able to understand what they faced this time, it is still unknown.
Another disease of the century – cancer – can be defeated thanks to the efforts of last year’s Nobel laureates. Scientists are working on a technology to treat this disease.
