Why are Americans fat?

Today in the United States, one in three Americans are overweight. Moreover, doctors are more concerned about the situation with childhood obesity.

The number of “fat” people in 2007-2008 was 33,8%, of which 32,2% were men and 35,5% were women. Whereas the number of those “inclined to be overweight” is already 68%, where 72,3% are men and 64,1% are women.

Among young children, about 10% suffer from overweight, and among adolescents – 19%.

“Over the past ten years, the obesity situation has stabilized somewhat, but the number of boys (overweight) between the ages of six and 19 continues to increase. Obesity has become a problem for 10,4% of children between the ages of two and five, 19,6% for those between the ages of six and eleven, and about 18,1% of adolescents between the ages of 12 and 19, ”the scientists report.

In the United States, a healthy lifestyle is being actively promoted, but despite this, the nation continues to get fat. Many see the reason for the lack of time for cooking homemade food and the abuse of fast food. In addition, some scientists and ordinary citizens blame the so-called GMO – genetically modified foods – for the problem.
