Neospasmina is a traditional herbal medicinal product containing liquid extract of hawthorn fruit and valerian root. It is available in the form of a sweet-tasting syrup.
Neospasmina – composition
The active substance of neospasmin is the liquid extract of hawthorn fruit and valerian roots.
100 g of syrup contains 18 g of a complex liquid extract (1: 1) from Crataegus monogyna Jacq. (Lindm.); Crataegus laevigata (Poir.) DC fructus (hawthorn fruit) / Valeriana officinalis L., radix (valerian root) (1/1) Extractant: 50% ethanol (V / V)
The other ingredients are sucrose, sodium benzoate (E211), orange essence, and purified water. The drug contains up to 10% (V / V) of ethanol.
Neospasmina – properties
A herbal preparation that has a mild sedative effect and helps to fall asleep. The hawthorn fruits contained in it contain flavonoids and glycosides. They also have a positive effect on the work of the heart, especially in states of increased tension and stress. It also contains valerian root extract, known more widely as valerian – it has calming properties and should help you fall asleep and maintain good quality sleep.
It has an antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscles of the digestive tract, urinary tract and blood vessels.
Neospasmina – application
Neospasmin syrup finds its application in states of tension and anxiety as well as nervous disorders. It is also recommended to take it in the event of difficulty falling asleep and in the presence of neurotic disorders of the circulatory system. Neospasmin is also used as an aid in spasms of the gastrointestinal tract.

Neospasmina – contraindications
Contraindication to the use of Neospasmina syrup is hypersensitive to any of its components, as well as liver damage, epilepsy, alcoholism or mental illness. Contraindication to use is also the patient’s intolerance to some sugars – this also applies to people with rare hereditary disorders related to fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency. Do not use in pregnant women and during breastfeeding. Neospasmina is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. In the case of children aged 12-18 years, consult a doctor about its administration.

Neospasmina – precautions
Neospasmin contains up to 10 percent vol. Alcohol (ethanol) which is equivalent to 2,37 g per dose, which in turn is equivalent to 60 ml of beer or up to 25 ml of wine. Therefore, this medicine may have an influence on the ability to drive and use machines. Moreover, its use together with synthetic sedatives is not recommended. Due to the alcohol content, the drug should not be used in children under 6 years of age.

Neospasmina – pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking neospasmine.
Due to the content of ethanol, neospasmine should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are no data on the effect of neospasmine on fertility.
Neospasmina – dosage
Neospasmine should always be used exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Neospasmin should be used symptomatically. In the case of adults taking the drug as an auxiliary in the treatment of nervous disorders such as mild states of tension and anxiety, a single dose is 10 ml (which corresponds to 12,5 g) of the syrup 2 to 3 times a day. The maximum number of doses per day is 4, so you can take up to 120 ml of Neospasmina daily. If you are taking this medicine as a sleep aid, use 15 or 30 ml 30 minutes or an hour before going to bed.
If you forget to take neospasmine, do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Neospasmin is intended for use when symptoms occur. If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Neospasmina – side effects
Neospasmine contains valerian root – when used in higher doses (greater than 20 g, equivalent to 177,7 ml of the syrup), it may lead to dizziness, tightness in the chest, fatigue, hand tremors and pupil dilation, and drowsiness. Symptoms such as nausea or abdominal cramps may occur while taking the drug.
These symptoms usually disappear after 24 hours. Supportive measures should be taken if symptoms occur.
It should be noted that the side effects mentioned above may not be experienced by everyone. The incidence of neospasmin side effects is unknown.
Neospasmina – interactions with other drugs
If you are taking neospasmine, tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the drugs you are taking or have recently taken, and about the drugs you plan to use.
Concomitant use of neospasmin with synthetic sedatives is not recommended.

Neospasmina – storage
Neospasmin should be stored in a tightly closed container at a temperature up to 25 ° C. It should be noted that iridescence may occur with the formation of sludge of plant origin. It is very important that neospasmine is kept out of the sight and reach of children.
Neospasmina should also not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Neospasmine, like any other medicine, should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines no longer required. Such behavior will help to protect the environment.
Neospasmina – price
The drug is sold in the form of a syrup with a capacity of 119 and 150 ml. What the price will be for it depends on the capacity. Neospasmina is available at any pharmacy and can be purchased at any time – you do not need a prescription issued by a doctor to buy it.
