Musculoskeletal Disorders of the Knee – Doctor’s Opinion
As part of its quality approach, Passeportsanté.net invites you to discover the opinion of a health professional. Dr. Susan Labrecque, graduate in sports medicine, gives you her opinion on the musculoskeletal disorders of the knee :
Patellofemoral syndrome and iliotibial bandage are two injuries that, although not serious, are often very debilitating. It is important to understand that they are almost always related to a training problem. Most of the time, the activity started too intense. We do too much, too quickly! Either way, there is no quick fix. It is necessary : – stretch the iliotibial band so that it passes close to the femur, without rubbing against it; – strengthen the thigh muscles (quadriceps) to balance the forces on the patella so that it remains in the space reserved for it on the femoral condyle; – stretch the muscles at the front and back of the thigh to reduce pressure on the kneecap.
