The most traditional tapa returns for the seventh consecutive year with a special gastronomic proposal
Tapapiés has started and the Madrid neighborhood of Lavapiés already has a hundred bites to taste, accompanied by the best musical and theatrical staging.
In this new edition of the gastronomic event we will have at hand the best excellence of the cuisine of Mexico, Japan, India, Vietnam, Russia and Morocco, which together with those of the different regions of Spain, complete the gastronomic proposal of the Tapas Route by the local hospitality.
From October 19 to 29, a hundred tapas from the five continents in more than 80 bars, which will combine their culinary creations with the musical and theatrical spectacle of 68 concerts and performances.
From the purest national flamenco to Rock or mestizo reggae, they will meet with the casseroles, tapas and pinchos that the neighborhood’s hospitality industry already prepares to captivate visitors during those festive and highly culinary days.
The gastronomic and leisure event is organized by the Lavapiés District 12 Merchants Association, which, together with the neighborhood shops, seeks to promote and boost business activity in the neighborhood, as an engine of wealth, employment and leisure in the city. zone. the parallel event with the gastronomic activity bears the name of “Chollopiés”.
The popular prices, as in the previous editions of Tapapiés, will make the participation of the gastronomic days a sure success as well as a different way of promoting commercial, culinary and cultural activity in one of the most cosmopolitan neighborhoods of the capital of Spain.
What we can see, drink and hear in tapapiés 2017
A fusion of cultural and gastronomic activity from the five continents is about to begin, although the neighborhood already welcomes multiple artistic, gastronomic and vital currents, the formalization of cultural activity in an event gives it that importance on a specific date.
Since ancient times, the Lavapiés neighborhood was already a meeting of cultures more than half a millennium ago, along its winding streets, Jews, Muslims and Catholics coexisted, and after the expulsion of the former in 1492, their houses housed converts. , rogues and hustlers, fleeing the authority of the time, civil and ecclesiastical.
Little by little nice people, sparklers and chulapos populated some streets that have never ceased to be the cultural and gastronomic engine of the city of Madrid.
Traditional canes and “nem” rolls coexist with Moroccan sweets and Indian rice dishes, among other varieties that we can surely take and try throughout its streets, bars or taverns.
