Multicooker and Pressure Cooker: Spot the Differences. Video
Appliance manufacturers have developed a variety of appliances to shorten the cooking process. These devices include a pressure cooker and a multicooker. Their design is the same, but they differ in some parameters and ease of use.
Differences in the parameters of a multicooker and a pressure cooker
The difference between a multicooker-pressure cooker and a pressure cooker is assessed by the following parameters: – dimensions, – principle of operation, – operational safety, – speed of cooking, – the ability to open the lid during cooking, – choice of dishes, – self-adjustment, – ease of operation, – the ability to cook baked goods …
One of the main advantages of a multicooker is the ability to open the lid during cooking. This is necessary if the hostess forgot to put something in the food or if you need to stir the dish. During the cooking process, the lid in the pressure cooker must not be opened, as the valve works to maintain the required pressure. You need to be more careful when putting food in the pressure cooker.
The pressure cooker has a built-in valve so it can cook quickly. The slow cooker cooks slower
A pressure cooker cooks any food faster than a multicooker. In some models, the cooking time is limited by the manufacturer. More expensive devices have the ability to adjust the temperature and time.
What to choose: multicooker or pressure cooker?
Before giving preference to one or another device, you need to decide on the budget. The price range and model range of multicooker is wider than pressure cookers. The multicooker-pressure cooker is more expensive, there are not so many models of it. The multicooker menu is simpler than that of the pressure cooker. The pressure cooker needs to be set up correctly, which is not always the case for novice housewives.
A pressure cooker will differ from a multicooker in a significantly larger size, so it will not work for every kitchen. The multicooker takes up little space on the table, as it is more compact. It is safe to use, the steam from it is not as strong as in a pressure cooker, from the steam of which you can get severe burns.
A multicooker can cook a much wider range of dishes than a pressure cooker. Food in a multicooker does not undergo aggressive processing like in a pressure cooker, in which vitamins are destroyed under high pressure in food. The multicooker cooks according to the principle of the Russian oven, that is, the dish languishes in it for a long time. This cooking method keeps vitamins and taste unchanged. In a pressure cooker, the aroma of food remains in the steamer and not in the bowl.
You can make baked goods in a multicooker, but not in a pressure cooker.
The choice of this or that device will also depend on the needs. If shortening the cooking time is important, buy a pressure cooker. If time does not play a significant role, and most importantly – to cook a dish rich in vitamins, you should take a closer look at the multicooker.
