Moscow delicacy: variety description

A good tomato harvest cannot be obtained without careful plant care. An exception to the rule is the Moscow delicacy tomato – the variety is so unpretentious and easy to care for that gardeners call it “a tomato for the lazy”.

Description of the variety “Moscow delicacy”

This dessert tomato belongs to the mid-season varieties – 16 weeks pass from the moment of planting seeds for seedlings to harvesting ripe fruits. The tomato is intended for cultivation in heated greenhouses; planting in open ground is possible only in warm regions.

The weight of the fruits of the Moscow Delicacy variety grown in a greenhouse can reach 190 g

The tomato grows throughout the growing season and reaches a height of 1,8 m. Although the plant has a powerful stem, a garter is still necessary. The bush is formed into two stems – this helps to achieve high yields. It is not necessary to make a grafting, only the removal of the lower leaves.

Advantages of the variety:

  • high yield – up to 4 kg per bush;
  • long-term fruiting;
  • resistance to viral and fungal diseases;
  • excellent taste;
  • the versatility of the use of fruits;
  • unpretentious care.

A distinctive feature of the tomato is the fleshy fruits of an unusual elongated shape. Ripe tomatoes have a bright red color and a dense glossy skin, which allows them to tolerate moving well and have a long shelf life. The weight of one fruit is 70-150 g.

Cultivation of the variety “Moscow delicacy”

This variety is so unpretentious that it does not require even half of the activities required for growing other varieties. When growing a tomato, you should adhere to several basic rules:

  • remove all lower leaves for better ventilation of the hole;
  • water regularly with warm water during flowering, formation and ripening of fruits;
  • remove weeds in a timely manner.

Even a beginner can handle the cultivation of this tomato. The only danger, especially in greenhouse conditions, is the rootworm nematode, which penetrates into the stem to lay the larvae. It is impossible to save an infected plant – it is removed, and the earth after it is disinfected. Garlic is planted next to the tomatoes to prevent root gall nematodes.

When growing “Moscow delicacy” no fertilizers are used, which makes its fruits absolutely environmentally friendly. Due to the high sugar content and the absence of chemicals, tomatoes are suitable for preparing baby food, and resistance to heat treatment allows you to maintain a beautiful appearance when preserved.
