Morning sickness in pregnancy, as we commonly call tiring and destabilizing the life of future mothers, is unfortunately one of the truths about pregnancy, just like some cravings: ice cream with pickled cucumbers, or toast with pasta and maple syrup. If you belong to those women who do not suffer from this ailment or do not have it at all, you can call yourself lucky. Fortunately, morning sickness subsides over time, leaving only a vague memory in the third trimester.
Morning sickness, sometimes called morning sickness, can occur in the morning, noon or even at night, the time of day is absolutely irrelevant. Nausea, which then affects every second expectant mother, very rarely can really threaten her health or the proper development of her baby. This problem primarily affects women in their first pregnancy, multiple pregnancies or those mothers who struggled with the prolonged problem of nausea and vomiting in the first pregnancy. There can be many factors causing such a state, e.g. stress. The advantage is that, like other ailments and symptoms associated with the condition, they eventually pass. This condition is also proof that your hormones are doing their job.
The center responsible for vomiting during pregnancy is located in the brainstem. There are hundreds of factors involved in pregnancy stimulating this center and as a result causing vomiting. These may be high levels of the pregnancy hormone hCG in the blood at the beginning of pregnancy, stretching of the uterus, relaxation of the muscles of the digestive tract which greatly reduces good digestion, excess stomach acid and an acute sense of smell. In each woman, the reasons may be different, but the effect is the same – the nightmare of nausea and vomiting. This extremely tiring state can take many forms, sometimes the intensity is constantly the same, in other cases it is only a few moments of weakness. Other moms-to-be feel weaker right after waking up and a few bites of crackers help them, while others are tired all day and chewing ginger or drinking water doesn’t help.
The reasons for this variation may be various: excess hormones, especially in multiple pregnancies, stimulate morning sickness, while lower levels may inhibit it. The reaction of the center responsible for vomiting is extremely important, sometimes the vomiting center is very sensitive, e.g. in women with motion sickness – this expectant mother has a very good chance that her ailments may be stronger and more violent. It is also important to feel stress, which can lead to an upset stomach, and thus lead to gastrointestinal problems and increase pregnancy nausea. A vicious circle can arise – the fatigue that is a symptom of pregnancy can lead to nausea, which as a result causes fatigue again. Stress intensifying at the beginning of pregnancy regarding the volatility of the current situation may intensify nausea and vomiting. Mental and emotional changes taking place in the future mother’s body are related to the fact that the body switches to a completely different level of functioning. The increase in hormones and many factors with which he has not dealt so far is of great importance for the condition of the future mother. Emotionally, pregnancy is also a source of anxiety at first and, due to changes in the position of the stomach, manifests itself as a series of malaise and frequent visits to the toilet.
Unfortunately, there is no effective remedy for these ailments so farHowever, there are ways to alleviate the bad condition. Rest, a diet rich in protein and carbohydrates will improve digestion and reduce tiring ailments. It helps to drink plenty of fluids, replenish missing vitamins, avoid irritating smells, sights and tastes of food that affect you badly. Eat before you feel hungry, get enough sleep, don’t run on the run, brush your teeth with a non-nausea toothpaste. Try to keep your stress to a minimum. Remember that whatever method you use, the nausea and vomiting will pass sooner or later.
