🙂 Greetings, dear readers! The miracles of Nicholas the Wonderworker never cease to amaze people. I heard about this amazing case from my father’s mother, Marina’s grandmother.
We lived in Manchuria in the city of Harbin (where I was born), not far from the railway station. And all the inhabitants of our village worked on the Chinese Eastern Railway (Chinese – Eastern Railway): some in the depot, some as machinists, stokers, and so on.
The station occupied a huge territory, there was a huge stone administration of the CER and a very large and beautiful station building. On the opposite wall from the entrance to the station building, striking in size, hung an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. Everyone knew about this icon, even the Chinese, some of whom were Orthodox.
I remember the Anfimovs’ neighbors – Uncle Vasya with Aunt Nyura, Orlovs, Moskalenko, Petrovs. And almost every family had a grandmother. When evening came, they gathered at our bench by the yard and conducted their own conversations.
How a Russian saint saved a Chinese from death
A Chinese village began behind the Petrovs’ house. In the first house, or fanzie, if you like, the Chinese Zhang lived. It was a master, as the saying goes, “I solder a puddle, I fix a computer.” But, apparently, these earnings were not enough.
On Sundays, he went to the pier, where he worked as a boatman, transporting vacationers to the left bank of the Sungari – there were beautiful beaches. The river in this place was quite wide, more than two kilometers, and in summer typhoons, as they were called here, often happened.
So, one Sunday in July, in the afternoon, there was such a squall, accompanied by a strong downpour and wind. It did not last long, maybe half an hour, or maybe even less, and the sun is shining again. Only puddles on the streets remind of the riot of the elements.
In the evening, the grannies, as usual, sat with their company. Suddenly they see Zhang walking, and something in him seemed strange to them. They called him, and he said that during the last storm he was carrying a Russian woman from the other side.
When it was already close to the shore, the wave overturned the boat, and they began to sink. And the first thing that came to Zhang’s mind was to shout:
– God station, help! God station …
He woke up on the shore, not believing that he was still alive, since he could not swim. Some unknown force carried him out of the raging river. This is an amazing case.
Grandma Marina was almost blind. On holidays, I took her to the temple, where we were serving. And when Zhang was free, he walked with us and always lit a candle to his savior – Nicholas the Wonderworker.
We were taken out of China after Stalin’s death, when the CER was handed over to the Chinese government.
