Microdermabrasion: what is it?
There is no such thing as perfect skin: imperfections, blackheads, pimples, acne, dilated pores, scars, spots, stretch marks, wrinkles and fine lines … The appearance of our epidermis is constantly evolving and this does not get better over the years. years passing: which is quite normal. However, nothing prevents us from improving the appearance of our skin in order to restore it to its former glow. While there are many cosmetic products that promise to beautify and slow down, or even reverse, the skin aging process, there are even more effective skin treatments for this: this is the case with microdermabrasion. Let’s decipher this technique as effective as it is painless.
Microdermabrasion: what does it consist of?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, gentle and painless process that consists of exfoliating the upper layer of the skin in order to clean it deeply, to revive cellular activity, as well as to erase the imperfections that are there. If this is possible, it is thanks to the tool used to perform the microdermabrasion. It is a small, particularly precise device which – thanks to the diamond tips or the microcrystals that it projects (aluminum or zinc oxide) – does not simply exfoliate the skin in depth. through its mechanical action, but also captures and sucks dead cells when it travels the treated part. Note that microdermabrasion can be performed on the face as well as on the body, the treatment area being defined according to needs and preferences.
Microdermabrasion and peeling: what are the differences?
If these techniques are both used in order to rid the skin of the impurities that accumulate there and restore all its radiance, they remain different. To begin with, let’s talk about the peel. In order to exfoliate the skin, the latter is composed of a galenic – most often formulated from fruit or synthetic acids – which is responsible for acting on the skin (and eliminating its surface layer) without ‘no movement needs to be made. In addition, this chemical technique is not recommended for all skin types. Indeed, the most sensitive and fragile, or those with skin diseases should avoid it.
Unlike peeling, microdermabrasion is a process which is based on a mechanical (and not chemical) action: the elements that ensure its effectiveness are thus purely natural. This is also why microdermabrasion is considered to be much gentler than peeling, that it can be performed on any type of skin and that its post-treatment recovery period is, unlike that of peeling (which spans on average over a week), non-existent.
Microdermabrasion: how does it work?
Microdermabrasion is a treatment that is performed by a professional and in the form of session (s) lasting between 15 and 30 minutes each (an estimate which can of course vary depending on the area treated). Depending on the desired result and the needs of the skin, the number of sessions may also differ. Sometimes one is enough to give a real flasht, even if a cure necessarily promises a rendering all the more bluffing.
Microdermabrasion is carried out on perfectly cleansed and cleansed skin. The device is simply applied to its surface and then slipped so that the entire area is treated so that it can fully benefit from all the benefits of this technique. The depth and intensity of the action vary according to the specificities of the skin in question (which have been analyzed beforehand). Rest assured: whatever the case, microdermabrasion is painless.
What are the properties of microdermabrasion?
Particularly effective, microdermabrasion makes it possible to revive the radiance of the skin. To display such a result, this technique stimulates cell regeneration, eliminates dead skin, improves oxygenation of the epidermis, evens out the complexion, refines the skin texture, erases imperfections (dilated pores, scars, comedones, etc. ), blurs the signs of aging (pigment spots, fine lines and wrinkles) thus making the skin smoother, toned and softer. Performed on the body, microdermabrasion promises to treat stretch marks (especially the most marked).
Result : the skin is more uniform, radiant, radiant to perfection and seems rejuvenated from the first session!
Microdermabrasion: precautions to take
Already, when it comes to microdermabrasion, be sure to rely on the expertise of a real specialist in the field. Then, be aware that if your skin has severe acne, psoriasis, eczema, irritation, burns or lesions, you may be (temporarily) refused this technique. Note that the latter is not carried out on moles or cold sores either. Finally, if your skin is dark, the professional to whom you rely will have to be even more careful during the process of realization.
But that’s not all ! Indeed, post microdermabrasion, you will also need to take some precautions. During the treatment, it is advisable to not to expose your skin to the sun (in order to avoid as much as possible the risk of depigmentation), this is why autumn or winter can be the seasons to favor when it comes to performing one or more microdermabrasion sessions. Then, for the first few days, be careful not to use products that are too aggressive for the skin: prefer very gentle formulas! Finally, more than ever, remember to hydrate your skin well, an essential step in preserving its radiance, its beauty and above all: its health.
