Marine style in the interior

Marine style in the interior

Do you want summer in your home all year round? Then decorate your apartment in a nautical style! 8 simple and effective ideas from Woman`s Day will help you.

The nautical theme is very convenient for the interior, because you can give the whole house for it, or you can use only selected accessories in separate rooms (in the nursery in the first place). In any case, the atmosphere of romantic wanderings and southern holidays is guaranteed to your home even in winter.

The cold blue scale has a pacifying effect on us, it’s not for nothing that we all love to look at the sea so much. Therefore, blue colors are perfect for the bedroom. Pastel blue can bring coolness to any room. But saturated indigo and purple are best used only as bright spots – paint one of the walls with a similar color or limit yourself to a bedspread or lampshade, these are quite active colors that can quickly tire. Mosaics and tiles in all shades of blue will be appropriate not only on the walls in the bathroom, but also in small fragments throughout the house.

In the marine interior there is a place not only for blue, it will go well with white (remember the same vest!) And beige (the color of sand, ropes and sails). By the way, a couple of accessories can be bright red (like a lighthouse or lifebuoy).

Since we are talking about vests, let’s remember the stripes. They belong in our interior. Opt for striped wallpaper or line the walls with paint. With a brush, you can draw narrow lines, with a roller – wide ones. Vertical stripes will visually raise the ceiling. However, this technique is not for small rooms: any stripes visually “compress” the space. In this case, it is better to make the walls light and monochromatic, and dress up pillows and windows in “vests”.

Another topical motive is waves.

Sea voyage sooner or later leads to paradise islands. And there is so much more – palm trees, coconuts, bananas, orchids, unseen birds and tropical animals! A parrot in a cage, of course, is a win-win, but wallpaper, fabrics, bed linen depicting southern flora and fauna are much less expensive. And do not forget about the seagulls circling above the wave and your southern photographs, which are finally time to hang on the walls.

Maps, anchors, a steering wheel, a lifebuoy, an hourglass, a copper lantern, a lighthouse, portholes (mirrors can be stylized under them) – traditional sea symbols can be found anywhere: on the same photo frames, lamps. In the end, you can use this technique head-on by hanging a map of the globe (as well as the starry sky or wind rose) all over the wall. Now the whole family can mark on it the countries and continents that you have already visited. By the way, don’t forget about the globe and miniature sailboat models.

Seashells make a wonderful composition in a glass vase filled with water or sand.

Shells, starfish, fish – what a sea, and at the same time a bathroom without them! And do not be afraid to let this “living creature” out of the bathroom – they will feel good not only there. Images of marine life are very popular, so it will not be difficult to find not only a tablecloth decorated with seahorses, but also a set in goldfish. It’s time to bring out all your pebbles and shells brought from the seaside. They will make a wonderful composition in a glass vase filled with water or sand, or a photo frame. Experiment!

Set sail! And curtain the windows with natural linen or canvas curtains. Chair covers, chair covers, napkins can be made of the same material. The curtains can be intercepted with twine, which will remind you of the ship’s ropes. By the way, such “ropes” will allow you to transform any piece of furniture. You can wind them on vases, table legs. If you want a completely original version, make an unusual curtain from the “fishing” net, in which shells, starfish and colored pebbles are “entangled”. And if there is room for a hammock, your wardroom will become even more comfortable.

Away from carpets and tiles, the real deck should be wood. The floors are best made of unpainted natural wood – wide boards should imitate either laminate or parquet. And so that the deck is not afraid of storms and dirt, cover it with a colorless ship’s varnish.
