Magarach grapes: description of the variety

The birth of this variety became possible thanks to the work of breeders of the Magaracha Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking. Grapes are an excellent raw material for the production of table wines, as well as natural juice and compotes. The juice content relative to the berry mass of the variety is about 80–85%, and its high yield allowed it to become a leader among technical grape varieties.

Description of the grape variety “Magaracha”

The name of the variety combines several different types of grapes of a well-known brand – these are “Pomegranate” and “Rubinovy Magaracha”, “Rkatsiteli Magaracha” and “Early Magaracha”. A distinctive feature of the variety is the short ripening period of the fruit, on average 120 days from the moment the flowers appear. The plant is a tall, spreading bush with five-lobed leaves. You can see how the “Magaracha” grapes look in the photo below.

Grape “Magarach” is picky about the composition of the soil and loves a lot of light

Early ripening periods help to increase the resistance of grapes to gray mold damage. At the same time, the variety is susceptible to such common grape diseases as mildew and phylloxera. When growing, it is necessary to protect the vine from insects

The bunch of grapes is medium in size when ripe. The shape of the brush is conical, medium density. The berries are round or oval in shape in most species, covered with a waxy bloom. As with all technical grape varieties, the taste of the berries is simple and does not have any specific nuance. The color of the fruit, depending on the type of variety, can be either emerald green or dark purple.

Characteristics of the grape variety “Magaracha”

For the cultivation of this variety, the southern climate of the Crimea is best suited, but due to its stamina and endurance, it bears fruit with success in the regions of central Russia.

The main characteristics of the “Magaracha” variety are as follows:

  • high yield;
  • destination – wine;
  • sugar content – up to 16%;
  • weight of grapes – from 250 to 500 g;
  • the mass of one berry is from 3 to 5 g;
  • frost resistance is high, some species of the variety are able to withstand temperatures as low as –30 ° C;
  • assessment by taste tasters – about 8 points.

Vineyard owners value the variety very much for its yield; even under conditions not particularly favorable for cultivation, it is possible to collect a sufficient number of berries. In addition, the fruits tolerate transportation very well. And homemade wine made from home-grown berries will be very useful at the festive table!
