Lithotherapy: the power of stones – Happiness and health

One emerald buckle, one sapphire medal; we love crystals for their beauty, their shine, their design, their finesse …

If for some the crystal is a sign of beauty, for others, the crystal creates harmony between the physical and the spirit.

Beyond their beauty, crystals are indeed full of powerful virtues that can heal you, release stress or attract positive energy to you. It is also a great solution to balance your chakras.

Welcome to the world of Lithotherapy and the power of stones.

What is lithotherapy?

Lithotherapy is an alternative medicine that uses the energy of crystals for balance, harmony and the well-being of people (1).

Stones, thanks to their chemical composition, their shape and their colors, accumulated over thousands of years, contain energy that will be transmitted to the person who uses or wears them.

This alternative medicine uses the chakras (energy points in the body) to develop or restore emotional well-being, mental, physical and spiritual health.

Given the importance of crystals in lithotherapy, it is important to know how these stones are formed in order to better understand their powers on general well-being.

Crystal formation

Crystallogenesis is the process of making crystals in a natural or artificial environment.

The natural formation of crystals

Natural crystals are formed in the earth over centuries, if not millennia. During these centuries, crystals are gradually formed and concentrate energy in them. This energy gives importance to natural crystals because thanks to it, natural crystals hold therapeutic and spiritual virtues.

Crystals are formed by minerals which crystallize under certain conditions such as temperature, medium, type of magma and many other conditions.

Magma is molten liquid rock (2). Crystals can be formed by crystallogenesis which is the formation of a crystal in a natural or synthetic environment.

Then, crystallization consists of a change from a state of a disordered liquid, gaseous or solid mineral into a solid ordered by its structure, under the effect of pressure, temperature and other more complex conditions.

In reality, minerals as well as simple bodies and chemical combinations can be found in three forms: the gaseous form (fumaroles), the liquid form (magmas), and the solid form (in disordered form). Under certain conditions, these materials solidify and form crystalline and with an amorphous structure.

After a long process of crystallization, crystals form naturally under the earth’s crust.

Natural crystals are mined from huge boulders of rock. They are broken up and removed from their original environment. They therefore keep their original color as well as their initial properties, but never their original shapes.

Many shapes are possible

Synthesized crystals

Regarding the manufacture of crystals by human hands, there are many processes to synthesize crystals.

The Bridgman-Stockbarger process

It is generally used for the manufacture of monocrystalline crystals. Here, we use a bulb in which we place the materials to be grown. Then we seal it.

With a vertical temperature gradient, the bulb is heated so that the liquid (therefore hot) remains in the top of the bulb and crystallization in the lower part of the bulb.

When the liquid at the top of the bulb goes down, it crystallizes. The flow of liquid and its crystallization is caused by the stretching of the ampoule downward. At the end of the crystallization process, the bulb is broken in order to recover the crystal.

The Czochralski process

It is used for the formation of large monocrystalline crystals. Sometimes artificial gems are made. However, it is more used in the electronics and metallurgical industry.

The Verneuil process

Another manufacturing process is the Verneuil process. It is a process which takes into account the use of certain ions. The reaction takes place at a very high temperature, between 2000 and 2700 ° C (4).

Lithotherapy: the power of stones – Happiness and health

It is used during the formation of glass shaped crystals. It is the process most used in the production of rubies, glass, watches, sapphires …

The difference between natural crystals and those manufactured is mainly due to the supernatural powers of the former. The latter having been manufactured in a relatively short time, the synthetic Crystal is not full of benefits, of powers in the same way as the natural Crystal.

As we stated above, natural stones come from flow that merge and crystallize in the bosom of the earth for thousands of years. They are therefore full of more powerful properties than crystals made by human hands.

The shapes of crystals

When we talk about the shape of a crystal, we are referring to a face or a set of faces that participated in its construction.

The faces of the crystal are taken into account in a symmetry ratio. In general, the shape of a crystal is characterized by the number of faces, the symmetry of the crystal, the orientation of the original face of the crystal with respect to all the axes of symmetry of the crystal and by its official name.

To name a shape, we use indices and faces. In mineralogy or geology, the index of a substance is the revelation at a point of a few traces which make it possible to predict the presence of this substance in a large proportion in an environment.

There are several indices such as, for example, the refractive index, the saturation index and the Miller index.

In a work published by JDH Donnay and H. Curien, “Nomenclature of 47 crystalline forms”, it emerges that one distinguishes in the French nomenclature, 47 crystalline forms.

We can distinguish among others, the Pedrion which has an open shape and is composed of a single face plane.

The Pinacoid, for example, has an open shape and is made up of two parallel planes. In addition, there is the Tetrahedron which is a closed form and which is made up of 4 faces.

Shape waves in lithotherapy

Natural or man-made, shape waves are designs with geometric shapes.

Mystical powers are attributed to waves of form. They emit positive or negative energy. The most popular are:

  • Solomon’s Seal makes it possible to avoid dysfunctions and to promote the harmony of opposing forces.
  • The scallop shell: This empty shell has the effect of boosting energy in gardens and natural flowerpots. It also helps to purify. Use your scallop shell to purify the stones you buy in flea markets. Place your stones in the shell. This will erase the stone’s memory and related negative energies.
  • The pendulum of dowsing: Through this pendulum, you can get answers to the questions you ask yourself.
  • The pentagram: The pentagram is a 5-pointed star that represents fire, water, air, earth, and spirit at the top. It symbolizes knowledge of the inner world, knowledge, intelligence. This star is the symbol of the divine in man.
  • The pyramid : Symbol of change, the pyramids concentrate energy within them. This energy emerges from the pyramid through the point. It is not recommended to wear the pyramid-shaped stones on the chest, in order to avoid a violent discharge of energy on the body.
  • The flower of life: It is a geometric figure in the shape of a flower. It is made up of several circles intersecting in the middle. The flower of life is full of energy. It purifies and gives energy, positive vibrations to your crystals.

Lithotherapy: the power of stones – Happiness and health

The shape of the crystal is therefore very important in lithotherapy because it allows to direct the transmissibility of the energies of the stone towards the chakras to be treated. We are therefore talking about the importance of shape waves in dowsing.

For the treatment of the solar plexus for example, you will rather think of the rough stone of the topaz. It is rough stone has a stick shape. As a reminder, the solar plexus is the one related to your self-esteem.

In the event of physical pain, the wand vogel, crystal in the shape of a point, used for the massages will help you to inhale the pain. It contains 12 facets and is widely used in lithotherapy (5).

How to load / program your stones

Program stones

To program a stone is to instill in it the intention for which you bought it, it is in a way to create a link with it. To do this, inhale and exhale several times until you get rid of all thoughts.

Then rub the crystal between your hands and enjoy its touch in the palms of your hands. When the connection is made, you must first deprogram it of any negative energy it carries.

There are several methods to deprogram a crystal. The simplest thing is to concentrate on the stone and the light around it while saying: “I ask to deprogram this crystal of all the memories and programs which are not in conformity with Love, and which are not in relation to the Universal Source.

Say this phrase several times while staying focused on the stone. After that blow on the stone, you just deprogram it. Now to reprogram it, ask for whatever you want. Say for example:

  • I ask that this crystal emit only positive vibrations that come from Light and Love
  • I ask that he only channel Divine Love, Divine Source Love
  • I ask that it be self-cleaning
  • I ask that he be a bearer of good luck and that he be brimming with energy.

You can say as many things as you want, but you have to make sure that your requests do not come from your mind, otherwise they will have no effect. They have to come from your mind, from your heart, because it is with the spirit that you make contact with the divine.

Charge your crystal

The stone gradually empties its energies when it is used. This is why, it is necessary to recharge it and to refuel. There are several techniques for doing this.

The waveform technique

You can practice this technique by placing your crystal on a flower of life on a regular basis. Your stone will be recharged. The flower of life is a geometric figure that has served as an ornament for a very long time. It is carried out by the juxtaposition of equal circles, linked to each other by their center (6).

Additionally, you could place your crystal between 10 Shungite tumbled stones for 15 minutes.

Another way to perform the waveform technique is to place your stone in the middle of 6 rock crystal points.

The technique of sunlight or moonlight

This technique involves exposing the stone to sunlight or full moon light.

For optimal recharging of your stone, it is advisable to expose the stone to the first rays of the sun in the morning or to the last rays of the evening.

It is also important to respect the preference of the stones. For some crystals, the sun is the best light for charging. For other crystals on the contrary, the light of the moon is the one best suited to recharging. Improper exposure may harm your stone.

The druse technique

The druse is a collection of several identical crystals. The druse concentrates an energy greater than that of the crystals which it diffuses in the environment in which it is located. It recharges the other crystals.

Amethyst druse is made up of amethyst, but also several other minerals making it more radiant, and powerful in terms of energy.

Druses are also called master crystals or spikes. Put your stone inside the druse. The great energy source of the master crystal will charge her.

The fire technique

The fire technique consists of placing the stone above a flame, allowing the flame to act which recharges the stone with energy. This technique is only recommended for professionals.

The technique of personal energy

Some people have higher than normal amounts of energy and highly developed chakras. They can use it to recharge their stone.

How to clean your crystals

Stones are natural energy emitters and receivers. They record everything that is in their environment.

When the stone is saturated with other energies, it can no longer diffuse its own. That is why it is important to clean the stone periodically.

All stones are not the same, depending on whether it is a stone of protection or another stone. In general, cleaning can be done by reprogramming, recharging and purification. Different techniques or methods exist to do this.

Bury your stone in the earth

The earth is full of powerful energies that can be harnessed. To return your stone to its source, to its origin, bury your crystal in the earth, in a place that is positively charged.

Let it sit there for several weeks or even months. Dig it up at the end of the period and wash it with water. It will be ready to be used.

Salt cleaning

Salt is an important element in lithotherapy. To make a good cleaning, two techniques are proposed.

First, you have the option to put your crystal directly on a pile of sea salt and let it purify.

Second, you can put your stone in a crystallized salt solution dissolved in water. Both methods are effective.

Fumigation cleaning

It is a technique which is quite practiced in the world. You can use sandalwood, Armenian paper, or frankincense.

Burn the material you have and clean your crystal using the smoke that emerges.

Water cleaning

Water is a natural source that serves as purification in almost all practices that have to do with the use of energy.

It is one of the 4 elements of nature. All litho therapists recognize its virtue in the purification of stones.

This very simple technique involves soaking the crystal in water for a few hours.

Heal your chakras with crystals

The chakras are the most important sources of energy in the human body.

The chakra system has been used in traditional Indian medicine (ayurveda) for over five millennia (7).

This medicine states that energy flows from one chakra to another invisibly, creating balance and well-being in the body. If this balance is upset, humans are subject to many diseases.

The role of crystals is to repair the imbalance of energy in the chakras so that the body can recreate positive energy.

The chakras are in perfect relation with the soul and the spirit of the man, which allows the organism to function well.

Crystals are used to treat ailments because they create restoration, harmony at the level of the chakras. Which will create a feeling of general well-being.

For the energetic properties of stones to work, the crystals chosen must be suitable for the part of your body to be treated.

To treat, for example, the sixth chakra, amethyst is the most suitable Crystal.

This crystal is connected to the 3rd eye, that is to say intuition. It allows you to develop your intuition, your attention.

Some people also use it during travel, for protection. Still others use amethyst to prevent nightmares and insomnia.

Although there is no scientific evidence yet for a cure by treatment with crystals, many people have nevertheless experienced the positive effect of lithotherapy on their health in general.

This made it possible to conclude that in lithotherapy, the crystals have a placebo effect on the patients. Here are some techniques that allow you to heal yourself with stones.

Lithotherapy: the power of stones – Happiness and health

Heal yourself with crystals

The technique of living water

You just need to soak the crystals in water for several hours. This water will be charged with energy and when you drink it, it will gradually correct the energy defects in your body.

Will it give you so much energy that you will no longer need to use coffee or energy drink to get back in shape?

The chakra bed

Take 7 crystals which represent the 7 chakras of the organism and place them on the bed where you sleep by aligning them. Once you’ve done that, lay down on these crystals.

During your sleep, a connection will be established between the energy points of your body and the crystals. There will be a total repair of your body, and you will feel a real well-being when you wake up.

Wearing crystals

Continually wearing a crystal has a positive effect on your energy.

If your stone is not very large, wear it anytime, either as a necklace, as a bracelet, or put it in your pocket. It will create a magnetic field around you. This will allow you to charge yourself positively and heal yourself.

There are other techniques that you will discover that you can use for your daily well-being.

Hold a Crystal during your meditation sessions

To facilitate your concentration during meditation, hold a Crystal in your hands, one on each side (8).

Close your eyes, take a deep breath. In principle your mind will connect with the positive energy contained in the Crystal. You will then feel a deep well-being. Some crystals do not give off their energy quickly, so it can take a while to feel the positive energy being given off. In this case be patient.

You can also hold the crystals in your palms for certain yoga positions.

Crystals as a decoration

In case of repeated depression, stress or anxiety, you can use several stones to decorate your space (your bedroom for example).

Here you will rather choose quartz (amethyst for example), because they bring well-being, a peaceful environment. Opal can also be used for your decorative painting as it generally promotes a good professional environment.

For your bath

Use stones to distill their energy in your bath. Soak the stones in your tub for a while before diving into it.

In case of heaviness in the legs, you can also soak your stones in water to make a foot bath. The energy of the stones released will relax your legs more quickly.

In conclusion

Lithotherapy allows you to directly treat your chakras, that is to say the different points where the energies are concentrated in the body.

The energy contained in the stones over the centuries helps to distill the negative energy in us and in our environment. This energy will improve, stabilize and balance our health.

And you, what is your favorite stone?
