When Belgian Rudy Geibels was still a 13-year-old teenager, he loved French fries so much that he wanted to eat only them every day. The mother, who did not share her son’s taste preferences and was worried primarily about his health, made various attempts to rid her son of this habit. In desperation, she even made a deal with her son: Rudy eats wholesome healthy food for lunch and then gets adored potatoes for dinner.
And so it went on – not a lot, not a little – for 32 years. Rudy has matured, celebrated his 45th birthday, but his dinner stays the same and still includes fries. Rudy recalls that only once, being sick with the flu, he did not leave the house for several days and did not buy potatoes, all the rest of the dinners consisted of them.
Mr. Geibels admits that perhaps he has an addiction, because he compares himself to people who cannot live without coffee or cigarettes.
But, despite the strange diet, Rudy assures that he is in good health. True, he has not done a blood test for a long time and admits that he is a little scared of what results such a study can show. Be that as it may, but so far the french fries lover is not going to give up his usual way of life.
How healthy is it
It all depends on how the potatoes are prepared. Initially, there is no cholesterol in the root vegetable. But depending on the cooking method, we can add it ourselves. The most harmful potatoes are fries, chips, croquettes and all those potato dishes that involve frying in vegetable oil.
And the most useful boiled unpeeled potatoes are the so-called “in their uniforms”. Due to its high carbohydrate content, it satisfies the cold well.
