Is it possible to drink coffee with cream while breastfeeding a nursing mother
Accustomed to a morning cup of a fragrant invigorating drink, women are worried about whether coffee is possible while breastfeeding. And although this is not the most dietary product, there is no definite answer to the question. Young mothers need to understand what its danger is and how it is used.
The use of natural and instant coffee for breastfeeding
The caffeine contained in this drink can cause trouble. It enters the child’s body, but it is poorly absorbed and slowly excreted. It can cause the baby’s nervous state, worsening sleep. Caffeine causes allergies and even anemia by reducing the iron content of breast milk.
A breastfeeding mom, especially when the baby is over three months old, can occasionally indulge herself with a cup of coffee. You just need to carefully monitor the child’s reaction. If you experience nervousness, apathy, skin rashes, you should refuse this drink. Consider the characteristics of different types of coffee:
- Natural. It contains the least amount of harmful substances, especially if you use freshly ground grains.
- Soluble. Low quality material is used for it, the caffeine content is very high.
- Green. It is used for weight loss and is not recommended before the child is 9 months old.
If coffee has a bad effect on the baby, it is better to temporarily replace it with chicory. These drinks taste similar, but the latter is caffeine-free.
Is it possible for a nursing mother to have coffee with milk
A young mother needs to determine for herself the frequency of drinking coffee, for example, once a week. To minimize the harm of the drink for the child, you should adhere to several rules:
- Use fresh only. It is better to cook it yourself, making it weak. It is necessary to grind the grains and pour boiling water, but do not boil, add milk. This will reduce the concentration of caffeine.
- Drink a drink in the morning. Drink it while feeding your baby. By the time of the next feed, after a few hours, the caffeine concentration will decrease.
- Combine to a minimum with other caffeinated products. Chocolate, cocoa, tea are also rich in this alkaloid, their consumption with coffee should be limited.
- Include foods high in calcium in your diet. Coffee helps to remove it from the mother’s body, and cottage cheese, cream, kefir make up for the deficiency.
- Drink more fluids. Consuming caffeine will dehydrate your body, so increase your daily water intake.
If you follow these rules, the negative effect of caffeine is reduced, and it does not cause trouble for the baby.
You can drink coffee while breastfeeding. It is important not to abuse it and monitor the child’s condition.
