Is eating fish and nuts useless for brain function?

American scientists, while studying the properties of foods containing omega-3 fatty acids, have come across unexpected conclusions. Fish and walnuts, which have always been considered food for the brain, did not live up to their expectations.

An experiment that established this fact was carried out with the participation of 2 thousand women, whose age was 65-80 years. They were divided into two groups. And watched the participants for 8 years. All these years, the respondents passed the test for the state of memory. And every year they had blood samples taken in order to control the amount of omega-3 acids. At the end of the specified period, the results were summed up, which surprised the experts.

In women from both groups, the decrease in the ability to remember and think was the same. But, nevertheless, doctors do not urge to exclude walnuts and fish from the menu, because they know for sure that they are a healthy alternative to milk, meat products containing fatty, saturated acids. Experts note that they will continue their experiments in the future to understand how omega-3 fatty acids work on the health of the heart and vascular systems.
