Friends, on the eve of Easter, you often ask about how to color eggs with natural dyes. Onion husks are, of course, a classic. Have you tried using turmeric, karkade, coffee or red cabbage? Especially for you, we have prepared simple and understandable infographics with different non-banal ways of coloring eggs.
✓ Turmeric. Add 3 tablespoons of turmeric to a saucepan with 1 liter of water and cook for 15 minutes, cool slightly. Then put the eggs and leave until you get the desired shade. For a more saturated color, use brown eggs.
✓ Red cabbage. Chop 1 large cabbage (or 2 small ones), cover with water and cook for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat, add 6 tablespoons of vinegar and put the eggs.
✓ Beetroot. Grate the raw beets on a grater, pour warm water and put the eggs.
✓ Instant coffee. Brew 6 tablespoons of instant coffee in 1 liter of water, remove from the heat and lower the eggs.
✓ Spinach. Chop 200 g of spinach, cover with water and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and put the eggs. Spinach is suitable both fresh and frozen.
✓ Karkade tea. Add 3 tsp. to 1 liter of water and brew for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat, cool slightly and put the eggs for 3 minutes.
On a note
- Use boiled eggs.
- All ingredients are indicated for 1 liter of water.
- Add 1 tablespoon of table vinegar to each broth (6 tablespoons to the broth with cabbage), then the color will fall better.
- After coloring, you can rub the eggs with sunflower oil to give them shine.
- If you want to get a brighter color, leave the eggs in the same broth in the refrigerator overnight (except for karkade tea).
