Imeruli, adjaruli, megruli, giseli – what are the differet  types of khachapuri

There are 4 types of khachapuri, each of which is established in a particular region of Georgia and is distinguished from other types.

So, Imeruli, these are round cakes with cheese inside. Cooked by a famous recipe Imeruli can be fried in the pan.

Megruli or Megrelian khachapuri is filled with cheese too, only unlike Imeruli the cheese in their composition takes significantly more and it is not inside, but on top of the tortillas.

Perhaps the most striking in appearance is the Adjarian khachapuri (Adjaruli). They are prepared with dough, cheese is in the middle of the pellet. The interesting shape of these cakes looks like a boat, this pellet carefully closed on both sides. Adjaruli must be baked in the oven for a few minutes until cooked. After they put an egg inside.

But in gozeli – Gurian khachapuri – you also use the egg, not raw but boiled. In the cake along with the cheese, they put cooked eggs that are sliced in half or along. When cooking a tortilla with cheese folded in half and rolled into a kind of bagel.
