How to wash apples “to be sure”

It is a well-known trick of vegetable sellers – to make apples attractive and shiny, they rub them with wax. Of course, we are not talking about inexpensive apples, it is unlikely that someone will go to such manipulations.

But what if you bought beautiful expensive apples and they somehow shine suspiciously? Cutting off the entire rind is not an option. Doctors recommend eating apples with the peel, as this is the healthiest part. It contains 6 times more nutrients than pulp. In addition, the peel is higher in antioxidants.

Washing such apples simply in running water does not always help get rid of the wax deposits. Better to use a more reliable method.

You will need:

  • soda
  • lemon juice
  • warm water

1. Pour boiling water over the apples. As a rule, if apples are processed, it is at this stage that a waxy coating should appear.

2. Sprinkle apples with a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice, combined in equal proportions.

3. Pour warm water over the apples.

4. Rub the skin well with a toothbrush.

The apples are ready to eat. Now it’s not scary to give them even to children!
