How to remove grease: preparatory steps and washing
Is there an unpleasant grease stain on your blouse or jeans? Is it a pity to part with your favorite thing? Today we will show you how you can remove grease from clothes and upholstery.
How to remove grease from clothes
The problem of greasy stains on clothes is not as global as it seems at first glance. The main thing is not to get upset, but to try to quickly correct the situation. The fact is that an old stain is much more difficult to remove from a fabric than a fresh one.
A few tips on what you can and should do before washing directly:
- if you have salt at hand, sprinkle a small amount on the stain and lightly, without fanaticism, rub the problem area with a clean soft cloth;
- a damp antibacterial wipe can help (for some reason, this particular variety is capable of fighting fat): rub the stain well, changing the napkin several times;
- you can apply a little dishwashing detergent to the problem area by rubbing it a little into the fabric;
- as an option, prepare a mixture of a teaspoon of salt and the same amount of soda and water, put the mass on the stain and smear it over it;
- for a white fabric, you can use an acetic acid solution (but not concentrated vinegar!), Pour it onto the fabric for 20 minutes.
After carrying out any of the above preparatory actions, you should start washing.
If the fabric allows, then wash the thing at a temperature above 40 °. There is a washing recommendation on every prefabricated garment. It is applied to a special tag sewn into one of the seams. If there is a temperature limitation in the recommendations, then follow this instruction.
How to remove grease from upholstery
All methods related to cleaning clothes fully apply to fabric upholstery. The only problem is that you won’t be able to wash your sofa or chair.
Therefore, after the preliminary steps described earlier, prepare a bowl of warm water and a pinch of detergent diluted in it. Take a brush for washing your hands. This brush is convenient because it has hard plastic fibers. They very well tear out particles of already pre-softened fat.
These cleaning methods will not work with natural or synthetic suede. Ugly stains may remain.
Dip the brush into the solution and rub lightly on the stain. Blot with a clean, dry cloth. Repeat the process 3-4 more times. The stain should be rubbed off. This will become visible after the fabric is completely dry.
Do not be afraid of everyday troubles! As a rule, they are all solvable with a little effort and a little of your time.
