How to massage a 6 month old baby at home
Massage for a 6 month old baby is important as the baby tries to get upright. In order for a baby to develop physically correctly at this age, he needs help.
Purpose of massage at home
A six-month-old baby begins to sit or at least tries to do it. If the baby is inactive, does not crawl, then you need to help him with this.
The massage helps to strengthen the back and abdominal muscles. This procedure should be carried out already from 4 months, then by six months the baby will definitely begin to crawl. It is advisable to carry out massage in a playful way, since the child must relax.
Massage treatments also promote the growth of the child and the development of the musculoskeletal system.
Massage is especially important for premature babies. It allows them to gain weight faster.
The massage reduces colic and strengthens the immune system. In order for the baby to be healthy, massage exercises must be regular.
The technique depends on the purpose of the massage. If the baby is worried about colic, then do circular strokes of the abdomen. Then stroke along the rectus and oblique muscles, ending with a pinch around the navel.
To strengthen the muscles in the back, lift the baby above a level surface by grabbing his stomach and chest. The kid should raise his head and bend the spine. One procedure is enough.
To release tension in the back and neck area, knead the area and then lightly stroke. 3 repetitions are enough.
The massage complex looks like this:
- Lay the baby on its back. Start by stroking, rubbing, felting, and pinching the upper limbs.
- Take the baby by both hands. Try to get him to grab your finger and then lift it up. Cross your baby’s arms as if hugging himself.
- Massage your legs. Repeat all massage techniques 4 times.
- Take your baby’s feet so that they rest against your palm. Bend the baby’s legs at the knees, press them against the stomach, then do the bicycle exercise. 8-10 repetitions are enough.
- Turn the baby over onto its stomach. Rub your back and buttocks. If the child tries to crawl, place your palm under his foot, help to bend and unbend the legs. This stimulates the baby to be on all fours.
- When the baby lies on his stomach, take his hands, spread them to the sides, then lift them up, while the body will rise. Line up to seat the baby on your lap. Repeat the exercise 2-3 times.
The kid should be stressed during classes. If you see that the baby is tired, give him a rest.
The massage takes 5-7 minutes, but it is of great benefit for the baby. Exercise daily, then your child will be more mobile.
