How to make an unusual Christmas wreath at home that will help you create a festive atmosphere? Carving specialist Anastasia Sidunova tells and shows
Carving is the art of artistic cutting of vegetables and fruits. Carving appeared several millennia ago in Asia, but the inhabitants of Russia became interested in this art not so long ago, but have already managed to fall in love. Carving artists can turn a watermelon into a rose or a banana into a dolphin! But there are also simpler techniques that can be dealt with without special training. For example, it’s easy to create an unusual Christmas wreath at home.
We will need:
- Base for a wreath made of polystyrene (square 50 × 50 cm, 5 cm thick), green foil and mesh.
- Spruce branches.
- Fruits: kiwi – 2 pcs., Tangerines – 7 pcs., Apples – 2 pcs., Strawberries – 9 pcs., As well as carrots – 3 pcs.
- Herringbone mold
- Toothpicks
- Convenient cutting knives
- Big Christmas candle
Step 1
Preparing the basis for the future Christmas wreath. The best and easiest option is foam. We cut out a circle from the foam, and inside this circle there is another one.
Step 2
To make our wreath look more attractive, we wrap it with foil, and on top with a green mesh. Then, using toothpicks, gently attach spruce twigs to the foam in a circle.
Step 3
We wash fruits and vegetables, peel carrots.
Step 4
We take a handy knife and begin to gently turn our carrot into a cone. To do this, mentally divide our carrot into 6 sectors and begin to cut 6 petal scales in a circle (the depth of the cut is 2-3 mm). Then we work by analogy in a checkerboard pattern.
Step 5
Cut a piece of apple and place it on a wooden board. Put a mold on top of it, press and get a Christmas tree from the apple! We repeat the procedure several times so that we get 5-6 Christmas trees. Then cut the kiwi into neat slices.
Step 6
Using toothpicks, decorate our wreath with vegetables and fruits. We arrange fruits and vegetables exclusively according to our taste in no particular order.
Step 7
We put a New Year’s candle in the center of the Christmas wreath. That’s it, our wreath is ready! We place it in the center of the table and delight guests with an unusual treat.
