How to defrost minced meat quickly? Video
The presence of a package of frozen minced meat in the freezer saves time for preparing lunch or dinner. But this is only possible if the meat has already been defrosted. Don’t worry if the minced meat hasn’t been removed from the freezer beforehand, there are several ways you can speed up the defrosting process.
Defrosting minced meat in the microwave
This is the easiest way, for which you only need to know the weight of the minced meat. The semi-finished product must be transferred from the bag to glass or ceramic dishes, which are allowed to be used in the microwave, and put into the oven. In auto defrost mode, you need to set the available weight of the product and turn on the program. The operating time in this case will be selected automatically and depends on the weight of the product.
How to quickly defrost minced meat in water
For quick defrosting, place the minced meat in an airtight bag and put in a bowl with hot water. The size of the dishes must be such that the minced meat fits completely in it. As it cools, the water must be changed to a hotter one, since the minced meat will defrost longer in the cold. You cannot put a bag of minced meat in boiling water, otherwise it will simply be cooked and then it will be problematic to make pancakes or cutlets from it. The whole process will take no more than half an hour if you take a minced meat briquette weighing from 0,5 to 1 kg. The larger the piece, the longer it will take to defrost.
You can also put a container with minced meat in a water bath, and then the water will be heated continuously over low heat.
How else can you speed up the process
If the minced meat has a flat shape and there is not too much of it, then for greater speed it can be cut with a hatchet for cutting the meat into several parts. So it will thaw faster, regardless of the method used for defrosting, since it is the middle of the briquette that becomes softer and hardest of all. If we are talking about self-prepared minced meat, then this moment should be taken into account even when freezing, trying to give it a flat shape. In addition to the fact that it defrosts faster this way, the minced meat will take up much less space in the refrigerator than if you immerse it there with a ball.
What else should you pay attention to when defrosting
You cannot defrost minced meat in water, otherwise, even after squeezing it out, the taste of the meat will be hopelessly spoiled, since all the juices will go along with the water
When defrosting in a microwave cabinet, it is advisable to turn the minced meat more than once, as is recommended in many models of equipment when a sound signal is emitted, and at least two or three times. This will avoid the situation when, during defrosting, the lower part of the minced meat already begins to cook, and the upper part dries up. This can also be prevented if, during the defrosting process, pause the process and remove the already thawed minced meat from the upper and lower parts of the briquette, removing it from the microwave.
