It is not difficult to cook cod, fleshy fish with an unobtrusive amount of bones and juicy, but dense pulp is very democratic.

Cod is fried and boiled, baked and stewed, even on the grill you will get a noble cod steak. When buying fresh frozen cod, you need to pay attention to an excessive layer of ice on the carcass or fillet, this may be evidence of repeated defrosting and freezing processes.

Fried cod
Ingredients:
- Cod fillet – 0,6 kg.
- Wheat flour – 70 gr.
- Sunflower oil – 2 tbsp. l.
- Salt, ground black pepper – to taste.
Rinse the fish pieces and pat dry with a paper towel. Mix flour and salt, lightly brew the fish, shake off excess flour. Fry the cod in a hot skillet for 2-3 minutes on each side. Serve with lemon wedge, sun-dried tomatoes and mashed potatoes.
Baked cod with vegetables
Ingredients:
- Cod – 1 pc.
- Lemon – 1/2 pc.
- Onions – 1 pc.
- Potatoes – 8 pcs.
- Carrots – 1 pc. (optional)
- Olive oil – 3 tbsp. l.
- Rosemary – 1/2 tsp.
- Salt, black peppercorns – to taste.
Rinse the fish, peel, if there is a head, cut it off. Use a sharp knife to cut the back several times diagonally. Grind in a mortar or grind coarse salt and pepper, coat the cod well outside and inside. Insert lemon wedges into the cuts. Place the fish on the foil lined with a baking sheet or baking dish. Peel the potatoes (if young, then wash them thoroughly with a brush), cut into large chunks, chop the onion at random, carrots into strips. Season the vegetables with salt, sprinkle generously with olive oil and place near the cod. Sprinkle the dish with rosemary, cover with foil and cook in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 35-40 minutes until the potatoes are soft.
Braised cod
Ingredients:
- Cod – 1 pc.
- Sunflower oil – 2 tbsp. l.
- Sour cream / cream – 100 gr.
- Wheat flour – 100 gr.
- Salt, ground black pepper – to taste.
Rinse the fish, peel and cut into portions. Combine the flour with salt and pepper, bread each piece well and fry on both sides over medium heat for two minutes. Pour cream (sour cream) into a frying pan, reduce heat, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes. Serve with boiled rice or pasta.
