When you start Word 2013, a list of recently opened documents is displayed on the left side of the screen. It also appears when you select a command Open (Open). If you don’t want to see this list, you can hide it.
To hide the list Recent Documents (Recent documents), click on the tab Fillet (File).
Click the button Options (Settings) at the bottom of the list on the left side of the screen.
In the dialog box Word Options (Word Options) from the list of settings on the left, select Advanced (Additionally).
Scroll down the page to the section Display (Screen). Highlight the value in the field opposite the item Show this number of Recent Documents (Number of documents in recent files list) and enter 0to hide the list.
Now when you start Word or use the command Open (Open), the list of recent documents will be empty.
To re-enable the list display, return to the dialog box Word Options (Word Options) and on the tab Advanced (Optional) in the field Show this number of Recent Documents (Number of Documents in Recent Files List) enter the desired value (between 0 and 50 inclusive). If any files were previously displayed in the Recent Documents list, they will be added to it again.
