How to choose mussels so as not to be disappointed
 

Mussel meat is a very dietary and healthy product, it contains a large amount of essential amino acids for humans, vitamin A, B vitamins, vitamin PP, and in general, the use of such meat helps to improve immunity.

Mussels are a delicacy, and their tender meat goes well with various products. The price of this seafood delicacy is high, but including it from time to time in your diet, you will make it more varied. Follow some rules when choosing and preparing mussels, and their taste in your performance will be perfect:

• When choosing mussels, be sure to smell them: if they are fresh, they smell like the sea, and if the smell seemed unpleasant to you, it is better not to take such a product. 

• When buying live mussels, remember that the shells must be tightly closed. 

 

• If you buy frozen mussels, they should be light yellow in color. 

• When choosing live mussels, give preference to large, small, not so juicy and pleasant to the taste. 

• Remember that fresh mussels cannot be stored for long and are best cooked immediately after purchase. 

• Before cooking, even frozen mussels must be thoroughly rinsed from sand under running water, and if you cook them in a shell, then first of all clean it well, otherwise the dish will taste like sand. It is very convenient to use a toothbrush or kitchen brush to clean the mussel shell;

• So that the mussels are not raw, but not overcooked, remember that fresh ones must be cooked for 5-7 minutes, and frozen ones – 7-10 minutes. This rule applies to both river and sea molluscs.

Mussel meat is ideally combined with white wine and dishes made from them are the best suited for a romantic evening.
