Have you spent the whole day in the sun and wondering what is the best way to soothe irritated skin? Kefir, curdled milk, or maybe a specialist dermocosmetic from a pharmacy? Learn how to effectively regenerate dry and tense skin after sunbathing, step by step.
Why is proper care for dry skin after sunbathing so important?
Staying in the sun is good for your health – the sun is a natural source of vitamin D, which is not produced by the body and must be sourced from the outside. Vitamin D improves mood, increases immunity and prevents many diseases.
But let’s not forget about the darker side of staying in the sun for too long. Long-term exposure to sunlight accelerates the aging process, results in wrinkles, discoloration, age spots and may even lead to the development of melanoma – one of the most dangerous cancers.
We already know what excessive exposure to UV radiation can cause, but the first symptom that can be noticed immediately after tanning the skin is its tightening and drying out. Dehydrated, damaged epidermis loses its ability to regenerate and after a few days it may die, peel off and, consequently, unsightly discolor – especially when you expose your skin to the sun without proper protection with sunscreen. To prevent this, proper, in-depth care is necessary in the first hours after sunbathing, which will not only bring relief to irritated skin and help rebuild the hydrolipid film, but also protect it from further damage.
How to take care of dry skin after sunbathing?
Step 1: Clean your delicate skin
It is worth considering proper care when washing after spending a few hours in the sun. It is worth choosing a product that will deeply moisturize and soothe irritated skin after sunbathing. A good choice is the CERKOPIL hypoallergenic body wash gel, designed for people with sensitive, atopic and prone to irritation skin.
This dermocosmetic works very well in the case of intolerance to standard cosmetics. The preparation effectively cleans and cares for the skin, at the same time it is gentle and does not irritate the epidermis. Cerkopil gel was created on the basis of an innovative formula containing a complex of active ingredients, incl. a mild surfactant based on amino acids. After its application, the skin will be soft, smooth and properly prepared for further care treatments.
Step 2: Keep your face moisturized
Remember to always apply a deeply moisturizing cream to your face and décolleté after sunbathing. The perfect choice would be face cream CERKODERM 5 – regenerating face cream with 5% urea content, which effectively smoothes, moisturizes and tones the skin. Moreover, the active ingredient niacinamide (vitamin PP) soothes irritations and stimulates skin regeneration. The cream has anti-wrinkle and depigmenting properties. It is also safe for the epidermal barrier, improves skin tone and condition. It is also worth remembering that products containing vitamin PP are also ideal for the care of skin affected by actinic keratosis.
Step 3: Don’t forget to moisturize your body skin!
Your dry skin will thank you if you apply a deeply moisturizing product such as sunscreen after each sunbathing. CERKOBALM – 10% urea balm with β-carotene. Cerkobalm is a deeply and intensively moisturizing product, especially recommended for dry and flaky skin. It reduces the symptoms of excessive exfoliation of the skin, especially the skin affected by solar radiation, and thanks to vitamin PP enrichment, it protects the epidermal barrier, soothes irritation and itching. Cerkobalm is also recommended for people after PUVA, a therapy used in the treatment of, among others, psoriasis, vitiligo and atopic dermatitis. When our skin is extremely dry, it is worth applying such a cosmetic even several times a day.
In order not to irritate the additionally tanned skin, let’s give up physical and mechanical peels for a few days and let the skin regenerate. We should also not use any oil-based products and soap that can accelerate the exfoliation process.
