is a skin disease that appears to be a collection of blisters that resemble nettle sting, hence the name of the disease. The disease is very difficult in terms of diagnosis and treatment, since it is a whole spectrum of diseases with the same symptoms, but different nature of occurrence.

The disease is quite common and occurs at least once in a lifetime in approximately 1% of people. The main characteristic of urticaria is the occurrence of relapses.

Where hives appear

– arms, buttocks, legs, torso, mucous membranes.

Urticaria symptoms

– blisters on the skin, with redness around them.

Types of urticaria

  • Acute urticaria (Quincke’s edema) – a sudden manifestation, a rash with severe itching, the appearance of a rash for a short period of time – 1-2 hours, a temperature may appear. Causes: protection against an allergen (medicine, food). With angioedema, swelling of the skin, burning in the area of ​​swelling.
  • Persistent papular chronic urticaria – papules stage
  • Chronic recurrent urticaria – the rash is not clearly expressed, chronic course, headache, fever, severe itching.
  • Solar urticaria is caused by prolonged exposure to UV rays on the skin.

Urticaria: diagnosis and treatment

First, the allergen that caused it is determined and eliminated, if the urticaria is chronic – laboratory tests (urine and blood tests).

Next, the prescription of drug treatment (antihistamines), hormonal therapy.
