Sudden, acute heel pain can be relieved by applying ice to it. It is advisable to pre-wrap it in a dense fabric so that the inflammation does not intensify from exposure to severe cold. Keep ice for at least 20 minutes. As a rule, by this time the pain either diminishes or disappears completely.

The reverse method of solving the problem also works well – heat. A sore heel can be rubbed with a warming ointment, for example, “Fastum-gel” or “Finalgon”, and also apply a semi-alcohol compress to it for half an hour. This method improves blood circulation in the problem area and quickly helps to cope with pain.

If the pain in the heel does not improve after exposure to heat and cold, or if the pain is relieved but it still hurts to step on the foot when walking, you can take an anesthetic pill such as Nurofen or Nise.

There are also folk remedies for heel pain. One of the most popular is the potato compress. To prepare it, you need to grate the potatoes directly with the peel, add 5-7 drops of iodine to the mass, mix everything thoroughly and bandage it to the heel. It’s good if the compress is done at night, or at least for a few hours. You need to repeat the procedure daily for 1-2 weeks.

If your heel pain persists or comes back again and again over time, you can try physical therapy. However, this method is not effective for all diseases of the musculoskeletal system, and therefore, before starting treatment, you will still have to consult a doctor and establish a diagnosis.

In some cases, the problem is so serious that it can only be eliminated with the help of surgical intervention. This occurs most often with plantar fasciitis and heel spur.
