Imagine: Gregory Lemarchal is a French singer at the height of his fame, a handsome guy who is loved and who is in love. He has everything: talent, great love for music, close-knit family, girlfriend, friends, fans. All France loves him, but he is terminally ill!

The guy loved life, appreciated every minute and tried with all his might to defeat the insidious disease! He never gave up and continued to fight, doing it with such a force that cannot be described … But suddenly everything stopped … he was only 23 years old …

But, despite a serious illness and complications in the lungs, he was able to realize himself and present his talent to the whole world.

Disease

At 20 months, the baby was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.

Reference: Cystic fibrosis is a systemic hereditary disease caused by a mutation of the gene for the transmembrane regulator of cystic fibrosis (CFTR) and characterized by damage to the glands of external secretion, severe dysfunctions of the respiratory system (the lungs work only 25%) and the gastrointestinal tract.

Greg was an active child, played sports, played for the basketball team and was fond of football. At the age of 12, he became the French Acrobatic Rock and Roll Champion in his age group.

Parents saw in him a good voice and hearing. But the guy only wanted to play sports and ignored all offers to enter a music school. The disease did not allow the guy to go in for sports professionally, and he decided to link his fate with sports journalism.

The day that changed lives

On July 12, 1998, plans changed. That evening, the French national football team won the World Cup, and Gregory lost the bet to his father. under the terms of which – if the French won – Gregory was obliged to sing in karaoke during the next vacation.

A couple of days later, Greg sang the song “Je m’voyais” by Charles Aznavour in front of a small audience and conquered everyone in the audience.

Everyone who was present at his speech was amazed at his voice. Seeing the reaction of other people, and not just his parents, the guy believed that he had talent. He was fifteen.

Incredible success

From that moment, Gregory, along with his father, began to perform at various musical events, where the young man soon gained popularity and even appeared on television.

In the summer of 2004, the Star Academy project (an analogue of the Star Factory) recruited its programs for the 4th season. There was one vacancy left, the producers were looking for a beautiful male voice. And such a voice was found! The jury could not resist Lemarchal’s musical talent.

Over the course of four months, Gregory gradually opened up as a singer, studied, improved his vocal skills and won the sympathy of the audience. December 22, 2004 his stay on the project ended with a resounding victory!

According to various estimates, from 80 to 86% of viewers voted for him.

Confession

For his performance of the song “SOS d’un terrien en detresse”, colleagues in the competition and the audience awarded him the nickname Little Prince. Gregory radiated inner light, sincerity, kindness and almost always smiled.

In April 2005 his first album “Je deviens moi” (I become myself) was released, which was recorded with the participation of the composer Ivan Kassar. This album debuted at # 1 and sold around 300000 copies in a short time.

The incredible success became an additional incentive for the singer to go further and set higher goals for himself. He became the author of more than 30 texts on topics that were close to him and were part of his innermost hopes.

In January 2006, Gregory Lemarchal received one of the most prestigious awards – “Discovery of the Year”, and from 9 to 26 May 2006 he toured France, Belgium and Switzerland with great success.

On May 29, 30 and 31, 2006, concerts are held at the legendary Olympia. As tickets were sold out long before the concert, an additional concert was organized on June 24th.

His voice was admired by such masters as Lara Fabian, Celine Dion, Patricia Kaas, Andrea Bocelli. Each of them sang a duet with Gregory, admiring the talent and spiritual strength of this guy.

Gregory: “The only times in my life when I am not sick are when I sing on stage.” But, going backstage, he again returned to reality. And the reality is this: 20 tablets a day, daily kinesitherapy sessions.

Even his concerts were specially arranged in such a way that he could withstand the stress. But still he was happy!

At the end of 2006, the disease began to make itself felt abruptly. In January 2007, he announced that he was forced to take a break due to poor health. Despite this departure, a second album was planned, and on March 30, the singer sings “Vivo per lei” with Helen Segara.

But his health is deteriorating, and at the beginning of April Lemarshal was urgently admitted to the hospital. He is awaiting a lung transplant.

Lemarchal was placed in an artificial coma, with his and his family’s consent, to ease the suffering and pain while awaiting a transplant. But without waiting for a donor, Gregory died on April 30, 2007.

In less than 24 years, Lemarchal managed to do as much as others do not have time to do in several lives. The incredible talent, humanity and nobility of the Little Prince will remain in the hearts of people who once met a glance or his smile in their lives.

On June 7, 2007, the Gregory Lemarchal Association Against Cystic Fibrosis was officially registered.
