Fecal stones are formed if the diet is low in vegetables and fruits, and too little water is consumed during the day. The main reasons for the appearance of fecal stones are:

  8. intestinal tumors or other mechanical obstruction within the intestine;
  9. the use of laxatives, resulting in intestinal laxity;
  10. taking medicines that slow down your bowel movements (e.g. morphine);
  11. ion metabolism disorders (e.g. potassium deficiency, excess calcium);
  12. tumors that occur in the intestines;
  13. neurogenic disorders.

Fecal stones – symptoms

Their formation is accompanied by flatulence, abdominal pain, a feeling of fullness, lack of appetite, and pain in the anus area. During the excretion of the fecal stones, irritation of the mucosa and the appearance of blood at the anus may occur. Fecal stones may also appear as a result – hemorrhoids, intestinal diverticula, intestinal inflammation.

Fecal stones – treatment

You can fight fecal stones yourself using home remedies such as an anal enema, or an enema, purchased at a pharmacy, to cleanse the colon. Pharmacological treatment includes, among others, fecal softeners (e.g. paraffin, macrogols, lactulose), which make them thinner, and thus easier and faster defecation.
