External school: a form of study, how to finish school as an external student
After the end of the 9th grade, a student can go to a technical school or study for another 2 years and enter a university. However, there is a third option – an external school. In this case, a teenager independently goes through the program of grades 10 and 11 in 1 year, takes exams and can study at a higher educational institution.
What is an external form of study
Externship is an accelerated form of study. A student can complete a two-year program in one year. At the same time, he is obliged to pass midterm and final exams at school. Such a training system leaves a lot of free time to prepare for entering a university, for work or for serious sports.
There are 2 types of external studies:
- Selfeducation. The student studies at home himself, come to school only to pass exams. He can also use the school library, attend pre-exam counseling and travel to Olympiads on behalf of the school. This type of training leaves the teenager with a maximum of free time. However, if the student does not have the proper level of self-organization, this type is not suitable.
- Intensive Smooth form of external studies. The child attends school several times a week, where, in a small group or in individual lessons with a teacher, he goes through the entire school curriculum in a compressed volume. Online training is also being introduced. So the teenager has a little less free time, but the chances of getting a full-fledged education are higher.
You can choose the shape that suits you best. However, keep in mind that not all schools take an intensive course; you may have to travel to a neighboring educational institution.
How to finish school as an external student
Transferring to external studies is not difficult. To do this, the student needs to go to the director of his school and discuss all the nuances with him. After that, you will need to write a statement. Probably, the principal will want to have an additional talk with the parents of the student. A student can be refused for one reason: the lack of free places on the external study. In this case, you can contact any other educational institution where there are free places. In addition, a teenager needs to decide which form of external training suits him – paid or free.
If your child wants to go to external training, do not rush to give it the nod. Weigh the pros and cons of this kind of study. Consider if you can give your child enough attention, because teaching at home will require help from you.
