Bad behavior at school: what to do, advice from a psychologist

Bad behavior at school is not uncommon these days. It leads to comments from teachers, diary entries, and even inviting parents to the principal. To avoid these problems, you need to properly approach the upbringing of a child.

A child becomes a violator of school discipline gradually, so it is important to notice changes in his behavior in time. These may be the comments of teachers at a parent meeting that the kid is inattentive, in the lesson is engaged in extraneous matters, does not prepare homework. After the claims have been made, it is imperative to talk to the child, otherwise he will feel unpunished.

Poor school behavior can be in boys and girls

There are several reasons why a boy or girl may misbehave at school:

  • Desire to be a leader. Courage, independence and disobedience are the main ways to express your character.
  • Lack of interest in learning. The child is not interested in school subjects, and in order for the time to pass quickly, he begins to be distracted.
  • Increased emotionality. It is difficult for such a student to restrain his emotions; he reacts sharply to any changes in the environment.
  • Features of temperament. Choleric and sanguine people are less assiduous than melancholic and phlegmatic people.

In addition, bad behavior can be a kind of child’s protest against reproaches and comments from parents. If they say that he is bad, the child begins to behave even worse.

Psychologist’s advice on what to do to correct child behavior

According to psychologists, parents can influence the behavior of children at school. For the baby to be attentive and obedient, it is necessary:

  • Support him. Even if the teacher claims to be the worst, for the parents, he must remain the best. Otherwise, his self-esteem may decrease, and in order to attract attention to himself, he will begin to play pranks even more.
  • Listen to the child. Perhaps he does not like school, teachers, classmates. In this case, it is better to change the educational institution.
  • You need to be a good example. If a boy sees constant quarrels in the family, he will transfer the same attitude to his classmates.

You don’t need to convince your child to change their behavior. If something prevents him from studying, his attitude towards the subject will not change until this reason disappears.

Of course, you shouldn’t close your eyes to the teachers’ comments. But you should not scold and humiliate your son. He should take his parents as an example, and not be afraid of them.
