Eucalyptus fiber blanket: reviews and cons
Among analogs, a blanket made of eucalyptus divides the palm tree with a bamboo one. They had never heard of such exoticism before: bedding was passed down from generation to generation by inheritance. The girls were given pillows, mattresses, feather beds and blankets as dowries. Now such an acquisition is affordable for every family. But, giving money away, one would like to hope for quality, because a person takes a third of his life to sleep.
What is it: Eucalyptus-filled duvets?
The growing fashion for plant-based and sustainable home furnishings pushed the light industry to invent new bedding accessories. As before, blankets made of sheep and camel wool, swan, goose down are distinguished by high thermal insulation, softness, and airiness. But there are also disadvantages: price, allergies and cleaning features.
They were replaced by synthetic blankets and those containing plant fibers.
Features of eucalyptus models:
- The fibers of the wood are processed so that they do not retain the haunting scent of Australian forests, but the structure is preserved. They are durable, long, breathable.
- Sometimes manufacturers go for a trick: they call models of blankets filled with eucalyptus, but in fact, plant fibers are present only in the upper layer of the accessory.
- If eucalyptus occupies 20-50% of the composition, the rest is silicone and synthetic fibers, this is also a plus. The Blanket is easy to care for. It is enough to wash it with a mild detergent in a washing machine at a temperature of 30-40 degrees and dry it in a dryer. Place the blanket horizontally to keep the fibers from bouncing.
Before buying, they look at the seams, study the instructions. It is better to check with a consultant how similar products from different companies differ.
Reviews of a blanket made of eucalyptus fibers: cons and benefits
The only drawback most users say is the lack of the expected amount of plant fiber in bedding. Most often, these blankets still consist of artificial fillers.
Another disadvantage is the discrepancy between the sizes of the duvet covers of domestic linen sets and those sewn according to European standards.
The advantages of these blankets:
- Breathable: These accessories keep you warm. In order not to miscalculate, when buying, they choose demi-season options with an indicator of 200 g per sq. m. Summer ones are marked with 100 units, winter, insulated ones – 300 units.
- They do not cause allergies, because mites, microbes are not able to grow in an artificial environment, plus the fibers are antibacterial.
- Such bedding will last for at least 5 years. Their wear resistance, when compared with woolen or feather counterparts, is high.
And there is no need to blow or clean such blankets. If in doubt, you can purchase a pair of pillows, one made from eucalyptus and the other made from bamboo. Based on this, a conclusion can be made about a future acquisition.
Eucalyptus blanket: benefit or harm?
If you want to enjoy the scent of the Australian tree to the fullest, you can buy eucalyptus aroma oil and sprinkle it with cotton wool. They put her on the bedside table. This will be enough to feel fresh and relaxed. These aromatic substances relieve headaches and have an antibacterial effect.
The eucalyptus aroma is strong, even intrusive, so its presence in the blanket is not for everybody.
But otherwise they are satisfied with such bedding.
