What are enlarged pores
What are these – pores on the face, and can they be completely removed or at least slightly reduced? In fact, absolutely every person has pores. These microscopic openings of the hair follicles are designed to release sweat and sebum (from the Latin sebum – “sebum”), a secret that the sebaceous glands secrete, onto the skin surface. In addition, with their help, breathing and thermoregulation of the skin are supported. But if narrow pores are almost invisible, then large, “clogged”, wide pores can become a real aesthetic problem.
Enlarged pores are an imperfection in which the holes formed by the hair follicles, into which the ducts of the sebaceous and sweat glands exit, thicken, become wider, visually noticeable. Most often this is due to increased production of sebum and its incomplete removal to the surface of the skin.
Of course, getting rid of pores once and for all is unrealistic, but you can visually narrow them, preventing excessive accumulation of sebum in the ducts.
Why do facial pores expand?
Why the pores on the face can be greatly expanded? It has been proven that the number and size of pores are determined genetically. However, this aesthetic problem does not always arise solely because of genetics – wide pores on the face can appear for other reasons. Let’s consider the most common of them.
Skin type
Large pores on the face are more common for owners of oily or combination skin. This is due to the active work of the sebaceous glands and, as a result, the abundant secretion of sebum. Mixing with external impurities, it forms a sebaceous plug, gradually stretching the mouth of the follicle.
Most often, large, open pores are localized on the nose, forehead, cheeks and chin, since a large number of sebaceous glands are concentrated in these areas.
Hormonal imbalance
Enlarged pores on the face can appear due to hormonal changes, for example, during adolescence or during pregnancy. Even during critical days, girls may temporarily increase the oiliness of the skin and, as a result, slightly expand the pores.
Wrong skin care
Improper daily skin care can also lead to enlarged pores. In particular, with insufficient or poor-quality cleansing, dirt particles, makeup residues and dead cells accumulate on the skin, which “clog” the pores. The skin at the same time looks uneven, rough. As a result, against the background of clogged, wide pores, black dots and sometimes inflammation may appear.
Life
The activity of the sebaceous glands is affected by stress and overwork, lack of sleep, malnutrition, and bad habits. These factors can trigger increased production of sebum and, as a result, the appearance of enlarged pores on the forehead, nose and other areas of the face.
How to deal with enlarged pores with cosmetic procedures
How to deal with enlarged pores? Modern cosmetology provides for many procedures that help narrow the pores and make them less noticeable.
Important! Each of these methods has its own limitations. Therefore, before signing up for a particular procedure, it is necessary to consult with a beautician.
Laser resurfacing
Peeling with laser radiation affects the skin, renews it and helps to reduce enlarged pores. Also, this procedure helps to improve the relief and tone of the skin, get rid of age spots and post-acne.
Depending on the localization of large pores and other imperfections, you can choose a general or fractional resurfacing. In the first case, the skin is processed all over the face, in the second, the procedure is carried out pointwise.
Chemical peeling
The action of this peeling is aimed at skin renewal by removing the surface layer (s) of the skin. Chemical agents are applied to the skin, as a result, the skin tone is evened out, the relief is smoothed, and imperfections, including enlarged and deep pores on the face, become less noticeable.
Ultrasonic peeling
Ultrasonic peeling allows you to reduce wide, open pores on the nose, cheeks and other parts of the face. Soft wave vibrations help to remove dead cells, clean and narrow large pores.
Vacuum peeling
Cleaning using a vacuum device improves microcirculation, helps cleanse the skin of dead cells and accumulations of sebum. The procedure is quite delicate and painless.
Darsonvalization
In this case, the effect on wide, open pores on the face is carried out by high-frequency pulsed currents. The complex effect includes improving blood circulation and cell regeneration, stimulating the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, reducing the severity of pores and smoothing the skin relief.
Advice! None of the cosmetic procedures eliminates enlarged pores once and for all. In any case, the effect must be maintained with properly selected home care in accordance with the type and condition of the skin.
Prevention of deep pores on the face
How to prevent enlarged pores at home? A thorough beauty routine, consisting of several mandatory care steps, helps to reduce the severity of imperfection:
- Cleansing. Knowing what causes the pores on the face to expand, it is easy to assume that the main focus of care should be on cleansing the skin. For washing, pay attention to formulas that contain acids and moisturizing ingredients – they allow you to combine cleansing and protection against dehydration. In addition, sometimes* the daily cleansing ritual can be supplemented with masks with an absorbent effect.
- Care, we advise you not to skip daily moisturizing and nourishing the face. For this, light textures that do not clog pores and do not leave the skin feeling greasy can be suitable. It is necessary to select the optimal means in accordance with the type and current condition of the skin.
- SPF**-protection. Ultraviolet radiation can cause dehydration of the skin and more intense production of sebum, so everyday beauty ritual must be supplemented with reliable SPF protection.
Important! Contrary to a common myth, you need to protect your face from ultraviolet radiation not only in summer – UV *** radiation remains active throughout the year!
*The frequency of use of funds is determined in accordance with the instructions and recommendations of the beautician.
**SPF (Sun Protection Factor) – UV protection factor.
*** UV – ultraviolet rays.
Knowing why there are wide pores on the face, it is important to eliminate the cause of the imperfection if possible – this will help correct the problem. To improve the condition of the skin allows the rejection of bad habits, adequate physical activity, proper nutrition and a normal daily routine.
