White and blue colors, tiles, lace and floral motifs – these elements will help create real coziness in a country house.
This is what the room looked like before the renovation.
The room is after renovation. The brickwork of the stove was faced with tiles painted in the Dutch style. Not a single hand-painted plot is repeated. An equally spectacular art object is an old sideboard decorated by a designer.
Combining the living room and dining room in a single space is a tribute not only to European, but also to Russian tradition. Indeed, in the old days in decent houses they never dined in the kitchen.
The area of the house is small, so the room (6 x 3 meters) had to be as functional and comfortable as possible. This was reflected in the selection of furniture.
For example, the round table by the window is quite small – it is designed for four people, a maximum of six. The living room area is visually highlighted with a decorative fabric panel. By the way, it covers the electrical wiring going to the wall lights.
Successful light scenario created a welcoming, welcoming atmosphere in the room. In the living room area, above the sofa, cozy sconces are hung, a floor lamp is installed next to it.
And just above the center of the dining table is an elegant cotton lampshade.
Designer opinion
For the living room, a white and blue “Dutch” color scheme was chosen.
For a Russian person, this pleasant combination, first of all, reminds Gzhel… But not everyone knows that painting with cobalt oxide on a white background on porcelain dishes, stove tiles and ceramic tiles came to us from Holland.
The plates that you see on the shelf under the ceiling became the starting point for creating the interior image.
Bright blue, lace and floral motifs are designed to soften the contrast between white walls and dark brown, almost black interior elements – ceiling beams, furniture, flooring.
There are country-style wooden shelves along the perimeter of the ceiling. Like the beams, they are tinted dark brown, against which blue and white decorative plates look spectacular. Originally hung over the oven wooden shelf… The owners asked to keep it. This shelf was also tinted in the color of the beams and old clay pots were placed on it.
In addition to the front door, two more are turned into a fairly long walk-through room – leading to the kitchen and the sauna. This circumstance significantly complicated the task set for the designer.
Cute curtains are made of ready-made lace tablecloths. True, they were previously painted in an intense blue color. And the back of the chair was decorated with a napkin knitted by the hostess herself. This pleasant decorative element further emphasized the textile design of the windows.
Instead of a door, curtains close the entrance to the kitchen. They are made in double – a dense blue fabric complemented on top with a white lace fabric. The decor of the front door is made in decoupage technique using ready-made decoupage cards. “Frames” are painted on the panels, for which we needed paint and craquelure varnish. Ball elements of balusters are painted and aged in the same way.
