Duhring’s disease is associated with gluten intolerance. It manifests itself in skin lesions. If a sick person wants to recover, he must first of all implement a proper diet. Sometimes drug treatment is also necessary.

Duhring’s disease – symptoms

Symptoms of Duhring’s disease result from intolerance to gluten (a protein found in grains). This disease manifests itself, in most cases, in the age range of 14-40 years, more often in men. Unfortunately, it can be passed on from generation to generation due to genetics. This happens when there is already a person with celiac disease in the family (somewhat similar to Duhring’s disease). It is worth knowing, however, that such a dependence increases the risk of developing the disease, but does not mean that the child will have to face Duhring’s disease.

Duhring’s disease it takes the form of blisters that contain fluid, erythema, hives (looks like pink or white lesions above the skin surface) or itchy, small lumps. The latter can be particularly troublesome, because the sick person scratches himself and thus causes unsightly scabs and scars to appear. Duhring’s disease it includes the knees, elbows, sacrum area, buttocks, back (fully or partially), face and hairy scalp. The above-mentioned inflammations, regardless of which part of the body they affect, occur symmetrically. It’s also worth being aware of that symptoms these will worsen when you take a medicine containing large amounts of it jodu. The same applies to meals that traditionally provide humans with this element, i.e. fish or seafood.

It should also be mentioned that there are people (about 10% of patients) who are not typical symptoms characteristic of Duhring’s disease, they also complain about ailments caused by the gastrointestinal tract. There is also a small group of people who appear – in the case of Duhring’s disease – also unusual symptomsthat is weakness, anemia and even depression.

Duhring’s disease – diet

Diet in case of Duhring’s disease is an essential element treatment. First of all, it must be gluten-free. On the other hand, skin changes will begin to disappear only after about half a year from the moment of giving up gluten and thus from products that contain wheat, rye, barley and oats. Of course, we are talking about flour, groats, pasta and bread. It’s good to know that gluten-free items is marked with the symbol of a crossed ear. This makes it much easier to navigate between store shelves.

Duhring’s disease – treatment

Usually curable Duhring’s disease it is enough to implement the right one, i.e. gluten-free. However, in a situation where symptoms are very burdensome in nature, it is necessary to make use of them pharmacological therapy. Medicines used in Duhring’s disease there are antipruritic ointments or so-called sulfonamides. Thanks to such measures, the appearance of the skin improves. Besides, as already emphasized, people who struggle Duhring’s disease, they should not be at the seaside. After all, they must avoid iodine, which exacerbates the symptoms and thus makes it difficult leczenie.

It is also very important that before implementing the correct treatment a specialist examination should be performed. This is a biopsy of the unchanged skin around the lesions. In addition, it is advisable to check changes in the intestinal villi and their vicinity. Test samples are taken in two ways. The first involves the use of an endoscope, which is a flexible tube and has a camera. However, the second method is to use the so-called a Crosby capsule. A probe with a special head is inserted into the small intestine, which acquires the necessary dermal material (larger than can be achieved with an endoscope).
