Drinking water – how to choose

Composition and Properties

There are two types of drinking water: natural and artificial. The first is obtained from natural sources, and the second, as a rule, is ordinary, thoroughly purified water.

The quality water label must indicate water chemistry… If the exact numbers are presented, then you are looking at purified water, artificially saturated with minerals. If the water is from a natural source, then the numbers will be indicated approximately – in a certain range.

One of the main characteristics of mineral water is its hardness, that is, the degree of the total content of calcium and magnesium. Hard water is recommended for children, the elderly and those with osteoporosis. Soft – well suited for the preparation of infusions, decoctions, medicinal syrups and liqueurs.

On the label of real natural water there is always the number of the well from which it is extracted, and the producers of “artificial” water do not prudently specify where it comes from.

Any bottle of water is always labeled “total mineralization”. If a liter of water contains no more than 500 mg of salts, water it is considered a dining room and can be drunk without restrictions. Water with a mineralization of 500 to 1500 mg can be drunk only alternating with the dining room. Healing water contains more than 1500 mg, and it can only be consumed as directed by a doctor.

Packing

Prefer glass water. Glass, protecting the drink from sunlight, helps it retain more beneficial properties.

In order not to become a victim of counterfeiting, pay attention to the bottles: firstly, there is a company logo on branded packaging, and secondly, there should be no errors and typos on the label.

Storage

Water, like food, has a shelf life and can go bad, so always pay attention to the date it was bottled. Water in plastic bottles it is stored for a year and a half, in glass – two.
