Do you want a Hollywood smile? You can do it!

Beautiful straight teeth are one of the main components of visual appeal. This is why teeth need to be looked after regularly and thoroughly from the moment they appear. You should not rely on aesthetic dentistry that provides a Hollywood smile: this pleasure is available only to very wealthy people.

How to keep your teeth healthy and beautiful, says Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Lyudmila Mikhailovna Lukinykh.

You need to brush your teeth twice a day for at least 3-4 minutes. After forty years of age, teeth should be brushed three times a day or after every meal. It is better to use herbal pastes. They keep the gums healthy, and good hygiene is good for keeping your teeth healthy.

Nowadays, the choice of mouth fresheners and rinses is huge. You can use whatever you like and which does not change the organoleptic properties. The main thing is to feel comfortable and pleasant in the mouth. It can be both herbal decoctions (chamomile, sage), prepared independently, and pharmacy ones. The use of mouth rinses will keep the periodontium and teeth healthy and breath fresher.

Try running your tongue over all your teeth. If it turns out that your teeth are rough to the touch, you need to go to the dentist who will carry out professional oral hygiene. After the procedure, the teeth will become white and smooth. This smoothness must be maintained at home as a controlling component during the brushing ritual. Run your tongue over your teeth. They are rough, which means you did not clean them well. You still need to add toothpaste and repeat the procedure.

Caries can appear at any age. In children, this problem most often occurs with insufficient oral hygiene and the abuse of sugary foods. And these are not only sweets, but also products with hidden sugars: sugary drinks, sucking and chewing sweets, cookies, gingerbread, etc. Much depends on nutrition. Children who like calcium-containing foods (milk, kefir, cottage cheese, cheese), as a rule, are less likely to get tooth decay.

In adolescence, when the hormonal system is undergoing a restructuring, with poor oral hygiene, tooth decay and gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) can easily occur. The way out is a more thorough care of the oral cavity. In addition, there are anti-carious pastes that contain fluoride.

It can be corrected with braces, and not only in childhood, as many people think. This problem can be solved in adulthood as well. Today, there are several dozen models of bracket systems: from inconspicuous transparent to outrageous, with a variety of flowers, stones, etc. The choice of braces depends on many factors. For example, how open the smile is and how visible the teeth are, down to your profession. Everything is very individual.

There are two methods of teeth whitening – home and professional. For home whitening, pharmacies sell special products. There are enough of them to make the teeth whiter. But if you periodically develop plaque, it is better to contact your dentist and carry out professional oral hygiene, brush your teeth with a special circular brush and abrasive. After professional hygiene, teeth are whitened two to three shades. This is enough. It is advisable to carry out professional hygiene at least once a year.

You need to change your toothbrush every 3-4 weeks. Studies have shown that after three weeks of use, the brush not only loses its abrasive properties, but also accumulates such a number of bacteria that it becomes a breeding ground for infections, especially if it is made of natural bristles. It cannot be rinsed even by soaping! Better to use a brush with an artificial bristle field and a wear indicator. The indicator (blue or green bushes on the brush) becomes discolored during brushing, which is a signal to replace the toothbrush.

Dental calculus forms due to poor oral hygiene. To avoid such phenomena, you should ideally brush your teeth twice a day for 3-4 minutes: in the morning after breakfast and in the evening before bedtime. If tartar has formed, it is impossible to clean it off on your own. It is necessary to consult a dentist and carry out professional oral hygiene.

It is not recommended to use one type of toothpaste for a long time. It is advisable to alternate the paste of different manufacturers on a monthly basis, as oral microorganisms become addicted to it.
