Dima was born and raised in an intelligent family. Father is a chemical engineer, mother is a doctor. Hvorostovsky became an opera singer thanks to his father. Father – Alexander Stepanovich loved to sing, played the piano. In addition, he has amassed a large collection of recordings from world opera stars.
With parents
Since childhood, Dima was surrounded by classical music and opera arias. At the age of four, he began to reproduce them fairly accurately. Thus, he began to get used to classical music in early childhood. He received his first piano lessons from his father, then entered a music school.

The teachers predicted a career for him as a pianist. However, the guy entered the pedagogical school. He began to master modern musical directions, including hard rock.
He performed in a youth group, tried himself as a vocalist. Having received the specialty of a music teacher, Hvorostovsky entered the vocal department of the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Arts.

In 1999, the couple separated and filed for divorce in 2001. When the property was divided, Svetlana took the house, apartment, and cars. Out of the money – 170 thousand pounds a year for maintenance.
Ten years after the divorce, Svetlana again sued her ex-husband. She demanded an increase in annual maintenance due to his increased income.
Now Hvorostovsky pays his former family twice as much as before. Namely, 340 thousand pounds is just over 17 million rubles a year. Under the terms of the contract, Hvorostovsky will stop paying for her maintenance if she remarries.
Florence
The second wife is of Italian and Swiss origin, pianist and singer Florence Hvorostovskaya (before marriage – Illy, originally from Geneva).
Dmitry Hvorostovsky himself has repeatedly admitted in an interview that at some point he began to relax with the help of alcohol. It was Florence who returned to his life, sobriety, light, romance, tenderness. In 2003, the couple had a son, Maxim, in 2007, a daughter, Nina.

Disease
Hvorostovsky’s partners on stage did not notice any changes in the appearance or in the voice of the singer. Meanwhile, his health became worse and worse. Dmitry developed frequent dizziness, and his coordination of movements worsened. There were problems with vision and hearing.
As a result of the examination, the diagnosis was made: a tumor of the hypothalamus. Thank God that we discovered this at an early stage of the disease!

On June 24, an announcement on the cancellation of performances until the end of the summer appeared on the singer’s official website. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor!
The singer decided to undergo treatment at the Royal Marsden Cancer Clinic in London. The specialists here have extensive experience in treatment. In agreement with the doctors, conservative therapy was chosen.
Back on stage
At the end of September 2015, the singer resumed his concert activities. He took the stage with Anna Netrebko at the New York Metropolitan Opera in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Troubadour. Hvorostovsky again performed the main role of Count di Luna.
