The plague of the 19st century has been raging for a year and a half now. Immunization against the new coronavirus infection has begun almost everywhere. In an attempt to protect themselves and reduce the spread of the virus, people are lining up to get protection from the severe course of the disease. However, not everyone can be vaccinated. There are a number of good reasons for not getting vaccinated. In this article, we will talk about direct medical contraindications for vaccination against COVID-XNUMX.
The first and only contraindication for all vaccines is hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. In other words, this is a drug allergy – a purely individual reaction to the components of the vaccine. If you are prone to allergies or have a history of negative effects of vaccination, you should discuss with an allergist or at least with a therapist the safety of using a particular vaccine in your particular case. Breastfeeding women and children under 18 years of age are not vaccinated due to the lack of studies on the safety and efficacy of vaccines in these patient groups.
Satellite V
Gam-COVID-Vac is the first two-component vector vaccine registered in Russia, known as Sputnik V. Clinical trials have shown that its effectiveness level has reached 91,4%.
Contraindications to Sputnik V vaccination include allergic reactions to vaccine components and a aggravated allergic history. Persons with chronic diseases of the central nervous system, kidneys, liver and organs of the endocrine system are vaccinated with caution. This also includes cardiovascular diseases:
- myocarditis;
- endocarditis;
- pericarditis.
The second component of the vaccine is not administered if severe complications occur after the first vaccination, including anaphylactic shock, convulsions, individual severe allergic reactions.
Before vaccination, the doctor must conduct a general examination. Temporarily you cannot be vaccinated if you have:
- acute or non-acute infectious disease;
- exacerbation of a chronic disease.
Vaccination should be postponed if you feel unwell until the condition returns to normal.
EpiVacCrown
EpiVacCorona is the second two-component vaccine registered in Russia for the prevention of a new coronavirus infection.
In addition to the previously mentioned contraindications, EpiVacCoron should not be administered to persons with:
- primary immunodeficiency;
- any malignant neoplasms and blood diseases.
The vaccine may pose a risk to patients with type 2 diabetes, autoimmune disease, and a history of myocardial infarction.
Kovivak
Kovivac is a Russian inactivated SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccine for patients aged 18 to 60.
It is contraindicated in those who have already had serious post-vaccination reactions earlier and in persons with a burdened allergic history (Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic shock). The attending physician should assess the balance of benefit from vaccination and the risk if the patient has:
- chronic kidney or liver disease;
- diseases of the immune system, blood, gastrointestinal tract, central nervous system, heart and blood vessels;
- pathology of the bronchi and lungs (asthma, fibrosing alveolitis, etc.).
Sputnik Light
Sputnik Light is currently the only one-component vaccine. Contraindications coincide with the predecessor – “Sputnik V”. Pregnant women are not vaccinated with this vaccine.
Other vaccines
In addition to the above vaccines, the following are registered in the world:
- EpiVacKorona-N is a Russian descendant of EpiVacKorona.
- Pfizer-Biontek is a development of German and Chinese companies.
- Moderna from an American company.
- AstraZeneca is made in the UK.
- CoronaVac is a development of Sinovac Biotech, China.
- “Convision” Ad5-nCoV vaccine also from China.
The main contraindications are common, but in each case, you should discuss the possible risks with your doctor, discuss concomitant diseases, be sure to indicate allergic reactions and your reaction to vaccinations earlier. This will help to vaccinate with minimal risk of complications.
