Common goldenrod is a perennial herb of the Aster family. Its Latin name is translated into Russian as “healthy”. Its goldenrod received due to its medicinal properties. Try growing this herb on your site to see its benefits.

Useful properties of common goldenrod

The ground part of the plant is used as a diuretic, as a cough suppressant, for kidney stones and for sexually transmitted diseases. It disinfects, relieves inflammation and heals wounds. Goldenrod rhizome heals skin diseases, accelerates the healing of burns and ulcers. It is useful for men, as it increases their sexual activity, and for women to normalize the menstrual cycle.

Common goldenrod blooms in small but bright colors

Here are some recipes for folk remedies based on goldenrod:

  • Broth. 1 tbsp. l. chopped roots or herbs, pour a glass of boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. in a water bath. Let it brew for 3 hours. Strain, take 30 ml three times a day.
  • Infusion. 1 tbsp. l. Grind raw materials, pour 0,5 liters of boiling water, leave for 7 hours, strain. Take 2/3 tbsp. 4 times a day.
  • Tea. 2 tsp pour 400 ml of cold water, bring to a boil, let it brew for a couple of minutes. Add honey to taste. Drink twice a day instead of regular tea.

Goldenrod honey is also useful. It is dark yellow, almost brown, slightly bitter. Such honey is not candied for a long time. It is good for the whole body.

To plant seeds, sow when the average daily temperature is around 18 ° C. Seedlings appear 2-3 weeks after sowing, but the plant blooms only the next year.

Goldenrod seeds quickly lose their germination, so planting with them is a simple but unreliable method.

You can buy ready-made seedlings, the main thing is that they are healthy. Plant these seedlings in shallow, well-moisturized holes in the spring. Water liberally after planting.

If you already have a goldenrod shrub, the easiest way to grow a new one is by dividing the roots. This procedure can be carried out in spring or autumn every 3 years. Make sure that the distance between the plants is at least 40 cm. Also, at the beginning of summer, you can cut the cuttings, root them in pots with a sandy-peat mixture and plant them in open ground.
