The history of the factory and cognac

The history of the drink begins in Prague in 1977 at the International Session of the Olympic Organizing Committee – “XXII Olympiad” was invited to the Kizlyar Brandy Factory to make a drink dedicated to the 1980 Summer Olympics, which should be held in Moscow.

Later, the appearance of the bottle was agreed upon with the symbolism of the International Olympic Movement.

In 1979, Soviet troops entered Afghanistan, as a result of which political turmoil began. Most foreign countries refused to take part in the Olympics. In this regard, the agreement with the International Olympic Committee was never put into effect.

The Kizlyar Brandy Factory, which was preparing to produce the Olimpiysky drink, in 1994 produced Bagration cognac from spirits over 20 years old.

The drink was named after the commander Pyotr Bagration. Since there were no drinks with the names of famous people in the Soviet Union, the cognac factory provided the Central Tasting Commission with all the necessary evidence that Bagration was a native of Kizlyar.

The products of the Kizlyar plant have been participating in various international exhibitions since 2000, and have received many different awards. In particular, the plant received the title of supplier of the Moscow Kremlin and acquired the right to place the corresponding sign on its products.
