Clematis for beginners
For beginners, Clematis seems to be extremely difficult to grow. Indeed, these charming flowers require a certain amount of attention and care. You need some theoretical training, otherwise in the harsh winter your pet may simply die due to the fact that it will be incorrectly prepared for the cold weather.
Clematis: planting and care (everything you need for beginners)
Planting dates for clematis can fall in autumn in September, and in spring – at the end of April – May. Adjustments can be made if there is cold weather in a certain area during this period and there is a threat of frost.
A magnificent liana can grow in one place for more than a dozen years, so you need to very responsibly select a place for growing. Flowers tend to turn towards the sun, so you should try to make it shine on the selected area for at least 6 hours a day. That is why it is preferable to opt for the south side. Small shrubs or marigolds can be planted nearby, which will shade the roots. Any soil is suitable for planting, but on a loose and nutritious flowering will be more abundant.
Clematis care for beginners
Clematis does not need excessive care. However, at times the plant is attacked by beetles that hibernate in the soil. In order to avoid damage and save the flower, it is necessary to carry out treatment with a preparation containing diazinon. They are introduced into the soil in autumn and spring.
In the spring, clematis needs to be treated with a biological insecticide that will scare away pests. If constant temperature fluctuations are observed in the region, then it is necessary to use a solution of kartocid, which helps to prevent wilt damage.
After wintering, the flower may not show signs of life for a long time. It happens that the awakening of vegetative buds lasts a couple of years. Do not throw away plant roots right away.
Preparation for wintering deserves special attention. It is in this part that beginners make a lot of mistakes. First of all, you need to choose a material for the shelter that will allow air to pass through well and not accumulate moisture. It is strictly forbidden to use sawdust, since they not only collect moisture, but also tend to rot. Under such shelter, clematis will simply die. If you do not cover the plant at all, then with a high probability it will not survive the winter.
Clematis is not easy to grow, but its beauty is worth it. It is possible that at first it will not be possible to achieve exuberant flowering, but over time you can get certain skills and tame this handsome man.
